I don't know how many of the Iran F14s are operational anymore. With the ban on parts for that bird and the known high maintenance requirements that go with it I would have to think most of them are now non-operational.
Good luck on your trip. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the 3116 in your truck is not a very cold weather friendly engine for starting. I'm sure you're going to have it plugged in all the time since you had the block heaters put in it but just wanted to make sure that fact about...
Guys, you are arguing/giving advice to a 17 year old kid. We've all been there, we were the know it alls who couldn't be told anything. Give him 10 years and he will be giving out the same advice you are now, only he won't be able to hear anything. Not trying to be a dick, but you've seen the...
I had thought about that option but I'm not going to leave the cover on all the time just so it doesn't get beat up unless I actually need to cover something. I didn't leave spare wire as I didn't want it to be able to get caught somewhere and rip out.
trukhead, make sure you have the engine spinning before hitting the ether start. Bad things can and do happen when you apply ether before cranking. Sounds correct so far to me.
I've seen the reserve units sit and crank on their A3's and FMTVs like mad to get them to fire up in the cold. I would go out to my A2, hit the start and be driving all over the place after waiting for it to warm up while they were still trying to get theirs to start.
Power service isn't what it used to be. It used to be the all in one choice but they've now made it so that you have do buy different bottles for different things. Unfortunate cause the stuff used to be top of the line.
Well some people do say I act like a kid so with my mental age versus my physical age I might be able to qualify  No one is going to steal the spot from me, I can guarantee you that one.
Thats because the new ULSD sucks. You should treat any ULSD you put in these older engines to help improve the lubrication value in it. What do you think the sulfer did in the old diesel......LUBRICATION.
Do yourself a favor and do not run WMO/WVO in the winter  Like others have said, RED PowerService (not the white) or the Howes. My dad is a OTR driver and he has switched to Howes from PS but didn't explain to me why.
Do it the way Gimp has indicated, much easier and the fuel gauge will still work. Gravity will keep both tanks at the same level.....until you let Gimp drive it. Then one side will be full and the other empty :-P
Only time I checked my stock A2 w/out tarp on was going to poofstalk. 300 miles each way through the river valleys along the Mississippi. Got about 10 mpg for the trip running straight diesel at the governor.
The 706 is DOA at the moment. It has major issues and with the cost involved to get it running again we have decided to sell it as it wouldn't get used often enough to keep a lot of the same issues from coming back. I did have to haul it up some pretty big hills on the way to my mom's house...
