What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I missed this original message, but I do appreciate the heads-up warning on it, particularly with the chemical exposure hazard. It prompted me (unfortunately, after the fact) to look more into it and understanding the hazard better. During the course of my cleaning efforts, I was wearing 7-mil...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Perhaps this is true, but the gasoline sure did the trick. I checked on the tank this morning and it was all the consistency of diesel fuel. What was neat to see was how rapidly the gasoline will evaporate off and go right back to tar. I used my fingers to wipe the bottom of the tank in a fast...

Not yet, but I also lack a pressure washer. Makes me wish I had a large steam cleaner, as I hear that those are really the silver bullet on getting out this gunk in a hurry. We'll see what the gasoline does, then I can switch to a warm pressure wash with some borrowed tools if it comes to that...

Glad I bought a replacement screen before doing this job. This tank definitely needed one. That's very sludged. I've been working on cleaning out the tank this afternoon. Not much is working too well on that sludge. I'm currently giving gasoline a shot, since it's about the cheapest solvent one...

I am. I sourced those parts at the same time I got the sender. 86humv is awesome like that for always having the right stuff at a good price. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk

That face you make when you're certain you know how much fuel your HMMWV has left in it when you go to drain the tank, but your container that's "just right" isn't. Just finished draining about 20 gallons from a tank I was sure only had 8-9 gallons left in it. As you can imagine from this...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

All did go well. I watched for a few hours and rain let up, then I saw that the rate of water flow really just wasn't enough to even fill the sump pit, so I manually cycled it to empty the pit fully, shut the HMMWV down, and went to bed. About two hours later, I was woken up by everything in...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I currently get to enjoy the boring job of pulling watch on my HMMWV tonight. The power went out in a massive storm that came through. The HMMWV has long been my backup power plan until I get a proper generator, but this unfortunately means I get to monitor it and ensure no one breaks into my...

    2020 Haspin

Well, figures. People really aren't critically thinking about reducing the spread of the virus. Every little loophole that they can find is being taken as the opportunity to go rushing headlong into it to relieve boredom. It seems that I have my store visits down to no more than twice a week...

So...you're telling me this is the premier moment to use my gas mask while driving around Haspin, with the voicemitter adapter plugged into my intercom to talk to everyone from at least 6 ft away?

    Mobil 1 in a HMMWV

You sound like someone that'd appreciate a reference from directly in the military... I've located a reference in a HMMWV "Quick Reference Guide" comprised of Army communications and PS Magazine articles pertaining to the HMMWV. Basically, this specific reference is going to tell you that...

    Rt-524 off frequency

If you don't get a good response here shortly, check out http://mil-radios.com We're a like-minded group that choose just to focus on military radios. Quite a bit of overlap between here and there, so I think you're likely to get a good response either way.

Very nice! Any instability without something holding it down from the top of the cans? I'd be worried about a couple of good bumps sending one can flying up out of the stack, followed by the rest flopping around freely due to the new slack. Because of this, I've just thrown a ratchet strap...

Thirsty? That's a seriously heavy water to fuel ratio on the back! 25 gallons of water, 5 gallons of fuel.

Fuel Tank Sock / Strainer Part Comparison

I was getting ready to overhaul the fuel tank with a fresh cleaning and a new sender, seal, access hatch, and fuel screen. While looking up the fuel screens, I was stunned to see the prices that are out there ($35-75 each). I started with P/N R12338556, but found that it was superseded by P/N...

M998 glow plug wiring - does the order make a difference

Boy, I sure hope it doesn't. From memory, I recall the wiring schematic show that they were all commonly wired, so all 8 should activate at the same time in all instances-they should not be matched to the specific cylinder. Otherwise, the only thing specific about them should be the length of...

    TM, Transfer Case Depot Repair?

And I personally make use of a set of what looks like spring-loaded, reverse pliers. You squeeze to open the jaws, then release to let the very fine tips grab on to what you need to pick out. They do wonders to fish out all kinds of small things like ball bearings and bolts down in difficult...

That's just the hurricane moving into the tornado dispenser. Should be normal. EDIT: If anyone knows what I'm talking about, y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. That was a terrible video... Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk

Problem with quick disconnect fan clutch

Are you pulling back the quick disconnect while pressing the hose in? It's a bit of a dance with a lot of the QD fittings. My old air hose is about the worst offender out there.

    2020 Haspin

Noted. Work has first-dibs on me, as there's a parade I'm on standby for on the 13th that calls for my HMMWV. I wouldn't want to break it and leave them without a vehicle...
