Finally installed the doghead starter relay that I bought weeks ago. You don't have to wonder whether or not that relay is energizing!! Sounds like you're hitting the metal dash with a small hammer....:D
I would suggest taking the alternator off and taking it somewhere to get it tested. Sounds like something bad wrong with the one that wanted to turn by itself. The only other time I have seen that was with a generator on a truck. The alternator is acting like a DC motor and is probably what...
No computer, just a mechanical injection pump. It is questionable whether anything else on the M1008/9 would be affected by an EMP. There is a good discussion in another thread here
There are so many variables it is hard to say definitively what would happen. It depends on the type of EMP...
Nick, one of my "ears" was broken off too...that is why I bought the crank assembly. I also replaced my locks at the same time in all my doors and ignition. I like being the only person with a key to my M1009.
Even though the brunt of the amperage is carried by the relay it still takes several amps to energize the relay. If you have an ohm meter or multimeter since you already have disconnected the switch, connect it between the contacts of the switch to see if the switch is making or breaking the...
Also make sure the switch you are using has enough capacity (amperage rating) to handle energizing the relay. If the switch amperage rating it too small it could have welded the contacts together the first time you pushed the switch.
I was researching trailer connector wiring for my M1009 to wire up a connector for a civilian trailer and found lots of information but it was generally in a format that was in my opinion either hard to follow or contained a lot of unnecessary information. I put together this document that I...
just wanted to post a few pictures of my M1009. It is coated with green bed liner. Had it about a month now and lovin' it. Check my posts in "What have you done to your CUCV lately" to see what all I have done to it.
I agree on the SilverStars....put a pair in mine about a week ago and they do light up the night for a decent price....got mine at O'reilly's too. Had to put in a new screw and self-locking nut because my driver's side adjuster stripped out.
Could you possibly provide details about the A/C install and post pictures later ? Like was it new or used? If used, what was the donor vehicle? What mods were necessary to mount the compressor, condenser, etc. What was the cost? One thing I found out about my M1009, is in the summer heat...
If you connect your switch to the same terminal on the glow plug solenoid as the blue/white wire without removing the blue/white wire, the controller or the manual switch should energize your glow plugs. All the switch or controller does is supply ground to energize the coil in the solenoid.
Great idea to fix this. Just what I needed as my drivers side headlight stripped yesterday. Probably a good idea to put a drop of Loctite on the threads when through aiming to keep it from vibrating loose.2cents
New glowplugs installed yesterday worked great this morning when temps were in the 40's. Installed new Sylvania Silverstar headlights. Installed new vacuum modulator which fixed my 1-3 shift problem. It now shifts 1-2-3 !!! Installed new fusible link in my 12v lighter circuit so it would use...
Seems to me that if it was a blown head gasket between the cylinder and water jacket and it was sucking coolant, that you would notice the coolant level going down after it ran for awhile. Have you had to add coolant to top it off ? Just wondering....
You were right on. Went to Advance and got a vacuum modulator, brought it home, installed it, and it is now shifting normally. In fact it is so smooth, I really have to pay attention to tell when it is shifting. It is definitely going through all 3 gears now and it even downshifts when I...
