LMTV Power Dist Panel test point threads?

On my A0 truck, the (X1) +24V and (X2) +12V DC taps are 5/16"-18TPI and ~3/8" deep. The (X3) ground tap is 1/4"-20TPI and ~11/32" deep.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Finally made new shockcords for the cargo cover. The old ones lasted about 4-5 years, but were slowly failing. The collars are pretty hard to press onto the shockcord hooks, so I had to design a special tool.

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

The filters are in the wheel valves (bolted near the lugs), and are upstream of the inlet stem to the tire. If you haven't seen/driven the truck yet, your assumption that wheel balance is a limiting factor may be incorrect. Most people do not have any kind of balancing done to their tires...

    Expedition engine?

One thing that I've thought about is the computerization of modern engines. You hear a lot of people say that the older mechanical engines are more reliable (e.g. M35 Duece vs M1078 LMTV), but the statistics clearly show that the newer engines get significantly more reliable as they become more...

    New LMTV owner

I think people usually refer to the bushings you linked as the "lower" bushings, and those in the eyelets of the bar as the "uppers".

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

I did use a pump up sprayer. From above... Like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-1-5-Gallon-Multi-Purpose-Bleach-Pump-Sprayer-1415HDX/312284087

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

Yesterday we did a bunch of testing, on several products. (The pictures, and they way I'm presenting it here, is a bit out of order from the way we went through them, so don't compare to stuff far away in the pictures.) All products applied with a hand-pump bleach applicator sprayer (e.g...

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

The LMTV covers don't have any stitching, windows, etc. They are all rubberized-fabric, with welded seams.

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

And no damage to the plastic/rubber cover material?

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

I picked up a bottle of this while I happened to be at AutoZone. It's bleach (sodium hypochlorate) and drano (sodium hydroxide) mixed! I haven't tried it yet.

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

That's what I did first, before asking, and there were a lot of competing ideas. I am hoping someone has actually tried something that worked.

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

Yes, it's the non-cloth type of cover, though I don't know if that is literally "vinyl", from a chemical compatibility standpoint.

Best chemical/product to clean soft cover?

My soft cover top has some mildew/algae growing on it. I tried pressure washing it with Purple Power, and it just grew right back quickly. I see a variety of products out there for cleaning boat covers and stuff. Some have bleach in them, and some are comparatively expensive in the quantity...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Thanks for doing the test. And yes, that is my position that you should not see a huge difference between the two. I went through the second video, and took the average of the "Estimated Fuel Rate gal/h" reading at the beginning of the each second (as best I could do, pausing/playing)...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

It's hard to argue that the automatic's inefficiency is insignificant, while also arguing that the hub heat is very significant. The automatic transmission generates way more heat than the hubs (or a manual transmission), so much that it has its own cooling system. Do AMTs have cooling...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

You're confusing me with someone else. I haven't said anything about you selling anything. But you're doing an awful lot of chest thumping, to help prove your points, I guess. The study even says it in passing, because, like me, I assumed everyone was on the same page about transmissions...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

They are good studies. The couple lines before that are equally important to our discussion here: " These fuel economy gains can be attributed to the greater efficiency of manual transmissions and the increased number of gears available in these transmissions to keep the engine operating in...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

What do you estimate then? I think you're agreeing less than 30HP, which would be 10% on your engine. So where does the other 20%+ fuel economy gain come from? Driveshaft yoke bearings on the axle, spinning 1/2 as fast? If you start working through these, you see why 30%+ MPG gains are so...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Ok, so by your expert opinion, 30+ HP, a full 10-13% of the engine HP is just spinning the hubs. Got it.
