    Snow?!

The stock tires are pretty slick on typical snowy/icey roads. I've thought about having the tires siped, there is a place that does it for like $10 a tire but they are 45 minutes from where I live-I think that would help a lot for typical winter driving anyway. I've also thought about putting...

    Snow?!

Its been really cold here the last few days (-20 currently) an it warmed up to a balmy 0 the other day an I started the old girl up without plugging the block heater in-she didn't like it and fought me a little but it did fire up. :) I had put an antigel in the fuel an let it idle outside for a...

    Snow?!

I have the stock tires on mine and I'm impressed with how much snow it can go through, but the thick clay mud we have in my area the tires absolutely suck in-its pathetic honestly.

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

Lol. Yes, it is easier when you have a hoist. :)

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

Yes it is. Lol. I did it with the tank in though.

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

If I remember correctly I think I just undid the one bolt that goes through the hub and then unbolted the control arm mounting bolts an used a jack under the lower control arm to support it-which allowed enough articulation to take care of everything. The bolts had to come completely out as not...

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

I took all of the shims out of the back of mine and when I took it in for an alignment the shop removed a couple of shims from the right front as well. I don't remember what the final numbers were but it drives nice and the tires are all wearing even.

How long the starter will hold?

    Good batteries! Lol

    Doghouse top pin

They are called Dzus Fastener's-its a type of 1/4 turn quick connect so to speak. You should have the same thing in the rear seat backs and the horizontal bar behind your front seat that goes from your B pillar to the tunnel should have a couple of holes you can look in an see a "wire" that is...

    Sets of hard doors..

I bought a set of VERY nice X doors and a set of soft doors that were like new in a package deal from a guy. I got a VERY good deal an now looking back-I should have bought more.

    Seafoam Trans Tune

I to am not a big fan and really not sold on additives with the exception of a couple from "old timers" and my own experience. I've never had anything that was running poorly or was burning oil that I dumped XYZ additive in (I think I've tried them all) an felt like it did anything except drain...

    Blown 6.2 any suggestions

I get my kits from Northern Auto Parts, good prices, quality parts an good customer service. They also have a tech manual available to purchase with the kit, they are inexpensive an a wealth of knowledge-I recommend getting one for sure as its well worth it. As far as hard parts, I get those...

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

I know on mine I pulled all of the rear shims out. Mine was kinda a bastard of a job dealing with rusty nuts an bolts but they all had to come out to get it anywhere near vertical. The shims really weren't the bad part as they are slotted so they slide right out, the plates with only bolt holes...

Where can I get a replacement windshield?

It was their glass. They came up an pulled the old glass out, drove back to their shop an cut out the new safety/laminated glass, cleaned up the seals as they were still good, then drove back up an installed everything.

Where can I get a replacement windshield?

Check around your area for non "box store" type auto glass places. We have a place in my area that is an independent glass business an they do glass in cars, houses, commercial buildings, heavy equipment, etc. They replaced both windshields in my Humvee while it was in the parking lot of where I...

    My HMMWV receipt plan

It took me some calling around. I got the its two wide from 3 places. So I asked, "Well can you align dually diesel trucks?", one place said no-we send those out to a heavy truck shop-so I called that place an they wanted like $300 for a 4 wheel alignment-Uhhh ok thanks. Another place didnt seem...

    My HMMWV receipt plan

All is sounding good. I went with 50/50 standard green (ethylene glycol) in mine. Look over the coolant hoses good, my lower hose was mushy an another had a hard spot in it, so I changed them all an flushed the system. Fuel filter is a good idea, an checking the fuel lines as mine were hard as a...

Low Sulfur Fuel - Adding Lubrication

That's a good thought, but a half a quart of ATF in 25 gallons of on road diesel is not enough to turn it red like dyed fuel. (You can check that theory an ratio by putting about a 1/2 oz of ATF in a gallon of diesel.) I grew up on a farm an am well aware how dyed fuel seems to never leave the...

Low Sulfur Fuel - Adding Lubrication

Being in the north woods I am not a fan of using veggie oil as I am afraid if I used it during the summer any residual left hanging around in the tank an filter would gel up as soon as the temp started to drop. Being in WI you can go from heat to AC an vise versa in a matter of hours it seems...

Removing rear shims to get the tires to ride vertical? Good idea?

I took all of the shims out in the back on mine. For me the likelihood of hauling something heavy enough and frequent enough to worry about it affecting camber is slim to none. I used lock nuts where I could an locktite on everything else, then painted over everything. I had a 4 wheel alignment...
