Just by chance 5 new 1600R21 tires fell in my lap. I am not a big fan of Goodyear AT -2A tires, special on the front axle. They get choppy real quick and vibrate like a off balance washing machine. Is there any other tread pattern in 1600R21?
I put them on all my customer's trucks. I alway flush the system first, but I change the filter at the next service. You can feel the extra weight in the dirty coolant filter, even after it is drained.
Watching this thread. I have 8.3L that is running weak and loosing prime when it is shut off. The truck will run weak, then I shut it off it loses prime. I have to power bleed the injection pump all the way to the injection lines to get the prime back.
I am also thinking about running 1600R21 MK-48 wheels on the front and rear of my M916. I want to run the heavier load rated rims because I will be hauling heavy. I am thinking about running bridge truck rear spacers on the rear axles to make the rear track right. Anyone with 4 to 8 rear bridge...
Good thing you caught it. Cummins hate to be lugged and the Allison will bring the RPMS to low. Always keep the RPMS between 1500 snd 2000. It was probably the o-ring at the bottom of the liner. Mine did the same thing. But I put a Big Cam 290 in mine ;)
Welcome to the group. I use to have my Military truck shop in South Easton. I move A&H Recon. Shop to Falmouth. Don't miss the Weare Rally this weekend in Weare NH.
I want to Thank all the guys that helped me out on the swap, Martin Cox, Greg Smith, His brother in law Andrew, Glenn and his son. Also want to thank my new Mechanic Tim, it is great to have a fellow Marine working in the shop with me, Oorah and Semper Fi.
I am running the stock Allison 5 Speed. My Customer Steve in Ct. Has been running a 450 HP Big Cam in his M929 and runs 1600s for two years with out issue.
The benifits are worth the work. The motor is pushing 350 HP and 1150 Ft lbs of torque. Plus it has piston squirter, huge oil cooler and Jacobs brakes.
Just finished putting the Turbo Big Cam Cummins 290. In my M936 Wrecker. My good buddy Martin Cox was selling his wrecker and I couldn't let it pass. I took the 250 Cummins out of the wrecker and put it in my old M923 that Capecoastie now owns. This is a very difficult swap, I would not...
