What did you use to cut your fenders?

I used large channel locks and a rag (to minimize marring the paint) to bend the lower corners in. Makes for a nice clean rolled edge, and clears 36" tires with ~2.5" of lift.

Wrong stock number? Someone got a heater in Vietnam..

There are two drivers side fender-mounted cab heaters for the M37. The version that plumbs into the cooling system (like the pictures posted), and a gas-fired heater that sits inside a metal shroud and has the exhaust routed up the left side of the windshield frame. If I recall correctly, the...

Request for GP replacement assistance - Police Involved

Near as I can tell from the picture, your wiring is set up correctly for running 12v glow plugs (like the 60G). Also, instead of replacing the glow plug connectors on your wires, you can just cut down the terminals on the glow plugs. Just take a sliver (~1/16") off one side with tin snips...

can you put headers on a m1009

I tried putting HMMWV headers on my M1008 - right one hits the firewall (can be cut and a quick 45 degree to clear), and the left one angles out and hits the frame (looked like major surgery would be required, cutting it all apart and rewelding at a different angle). I quit trying at that point...

    i wanna winch

I would assume so - the front frame on my M1009 looks about the same as my M1008. The 1009 may have smaller flanges on the frame rails (didn't measure), which may actually give you a little more room around the winch. When I put mine on, I mounted the winch flipped upside down from normal...

    Military antenna with cb radio

Antenna base AB558 will also work with the CUCV mount and antenna sections already mentioned above. That's the setup I've had on my M1008 for about 5 years now.

    M1009 Front Windshield Defroster

Make sure the ducts are assembled correctly under the dash. Mine had been separated and almost no air was getting to the defroster ducts. After putting the connection just above the heater outlet back together and wrapping it in duct tape to eliminate leakage, my defroster works much better...

    Setup for deep snow?

I know neither is a deuce, but having used a M37 with a rear locker as a daily driver in Fairbanks for 4 years and a M1008 with a rear locker as a daily driver in Anchorage for 3 years (and counting), my opinion is that a rear locker in a low horsepower heavy vehicle is mostly transparent. I...

    Trailer Wiring adapter for CUCV...

Or you can buy a cheap flat 4, and a complete 3-pin weatherpack connector (1 male end, 1 female end) and build your own adapter that will plug in right where the military trailer plug connects to the wiring harness. You can switch between military and civilian wiring in about 30 seconds.

The Unicorn; Or M37 broken long side axle shafts

Also not hard with a locker that breaks and turns into a spool; 2 longs and a short went before I figured out the real source of the problem. There is no doubt that they are the equivalent of a fusible link in the drivetrain!

    Trailer Connector - M1028 to M101??? Help!

As stated, trailer is fine, truck is converted to a civy connector. Look under the bumper and see if the weatherpack plugs are still in the harness. If they are you can easily unplug and remove the civy plug and plug in a original CUCV one and be good to go relatively easily. Otherwise you'll...

    M1008 Lift or Level?

Doubtful you will find a lift kit with springs like the stock rears in them, but you can use lift blocks back there and retain the stock springs. Check the spring rates on the front springs before you buy - a soft spring and the heavy diesel will net you less than the advertised lift. A set of...

will Deuce glass fit M37 windshield frame?

The inner frame will fit into a M37, but the wiper motor hole is in a different location on the deuce frames.

The DMV is convinced my M1031 is a Dodge?

Took me 6 months of fighting with the insurance people before they decided that my M1008 was not a "S10 Blazer Sport". Ended up parking out front and inviting them to inspect the vehicle and the vin before they believed me...

Headlights not working, all others are.

Check the headlight dimmer switch, on the lower left side of the steering column just behind the dash. Had one with the same no headlight issue. Testing with a jumper wire in the plug confirmed that the dimmer switch was bad. And despite what the manual says, you can replace the switch...

    Headers

Chasing non-turbo power/efficiency, I've added a Banks 'ram-air' intake, K&N filter, single plane intake manifold, turned up the injection pump, headers, mandrel bent 3" exhaust in front of the mufflers, 2.5" exhaust behind that. The truck runs well and my mileage has improved over stock, but...

    fan shroud interchangeability

One for a civvy diesel should fit. One for a civvy 454 with a 34" x 19" core & oil cooler MIGHT fit. I highly doubt anything for a small block would fit - CUCVs have much larger radiators. As mentioned, they are a 1-piece shroud.

    Brake drum removal, m37

I've had good luck using a drag link socket. Fits the slot nice and tight and engages the entire width. And lots of antisieze on reassembly.

    AS-1729/VRC antenna cb conversion

I have a AB558 base and MS116, 117 & 118 for an antenna. This is connected to a splitter and a original (civvy) Delco AM/FM/CB radio in the dash. The AB558 takes a standard coax connector, so setup was easy and no permanent modifications were required. While perhaps not perfect, I can send...

    New M1009 owner in Alaska...

    1. Does the gen 1 light on the dash come on when you turn the key on (engine not running)? If no, replace the bulb. 1. Take your alternator to Alaska Auto Electric at 6325 Petersburg St. They're familiar with 24v and CUCV alternators and can rebuild yours if it needs it. 3. As...
