I currently have 38" swampers on my 4:56 geared M1009 (one ton axles) and i can do 60mph fine but it still feels weird going any faster than that. I agree that either a OD swap or an axle re-gear is a better way to get highway speed. I've ran three different CUCV's on tire sizes including...

My M1009 also weighs in at 6000 lbs. Mine also has 1-ton axles, H1 wheels w/ 38" tires. They add some weight, but not sure how much over stock. I have driven it onto the scale at work several times. I never weighed a stock one.

Does anybody have an 11.00-20 tire they're willing to sell and bring to the rally? I haven't had any luck finding a spare tire close to me. I don't care about whether or not it's bias-ply, radial, whatever. Just need something not dry rotted. I can bring my own 6-lug wheel if it's on...

I called it for Option 1, September 21-23. I think we can probably also do a day trip for Option 4 in October. Right now, lets focus on September 21-23. Get your rigs ready, your time scheduled, and lets get together in a few weeks on Friday, September 21! I will most likely arrive Friday...
