Good day, I am just writing this to thank everyone here that has helped me out in the 4 months I have owned my M1009. In just 4 months This truck has drained my savings. It went through 2 starters, has 2 new batteries, 2 brand new starters, a new GP relay, and 2 brand new alternators. My M1009...
does it go on while you're turning key, and go off when after the engine is running? If so that's normal. If not I'd say check the TMs from the faq page. I've learned alot of information and troubleshooting from those tms
Both my gen lights go on when I start the car and turn off when there's...
Beautiful setup there mistaken1, I want to do that, but dont have the power connectors in the cab where the radio mount should be. If you would be so kind, would you pm me how you set up the extra connectors, and where you acquired it from?
I've read in other posts about CB that you can run a whip in the military antenna base, but you need to use an antenna tuner to match everything up so the SWR's dont get too high. I am in the process of fabricating my own mounting bracket out of sheet metal. This way I can get the ball mount for...
Good day all, I am pleased to say that I am day 6 off the ether. I thought my engine was getting dependent on the stuff. I still have a couple more issues to work out with the m1009, but at least it's starting on it's own <mostly> Now I have to let it cool down at least a couple hours before I...
Thanks for the advice again.
I'll post in here again instead of making a new post.
Today I re-wired everything back to 24v except putting the starter wire on the front battery until I can get the actual 24v starter installed instead of the 12v one.
After the re-wire I got my volt meter back...
The overall length according to google is 123 inches. As being an amateur radio operator along with running a cb radio, yes you will hit trees, and bridges. I run a stainless steel 102" whip for my cb which is mounted on a chevy cobalt. I hit everything unless it's tied down with the whip clip...
Lol I feel dumb sometimes, I am so mechanically inclined it's not funny. Every vehicle I've owned would go to the mechanic at every noise or problem at all. This cucv I am learning to do things for myself with it. I would have never guesses that low power steering fluid would make that whirring...
I hope the bearings are not going bad, I've spent half the price I paid for this thing in repairs alone. I did check the power steering fluid though, and it's almost empty, have to go and get some more. Also the transmission fluid dipstick is showing to add a pint. Hopefully this will fix the...
Beanman1, when I am sitting still the noise isn't there, I'll check the p.s fluid after my shift at work. Also, cj the noise is still there for me when the engine is hot
Good day all. I have just noticed a medium to high pitched whirring coming from the front end during acceleration. This happens from the front end of the vehicle. Whenever the accelerator is pressed I can hear this whirring. It even happens during regular turning of the front wheels. When I let...
I dont know how i missed that while going through everything. At least I know I can at least wire the batteries back into series. I got the wiring diagrams for the series printed out and I am ready to go. Only one drawback it's about ready to storm out and I'm not a rain worker, no garage just a...
Hey all once again thanks for the info and help. Unfortunatly today I found out that the starter installed was a 12v starter for sure. Autozone could finally tell me that they sold me a 12v starter after I said I'm going to call my lawyer on both them and the mechanic. <which is still at large>...
Thanks for the info everyone. The electrical was indeed a hack job. The mechanic it was towed to re-wired the batteries in parallel instead of series. I for sure am doubting the starter I bought was indeed a 24v. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking, I was at work when it was installed along...
Hello all, I am new to owning a cucv. It is an 84 blazer. The day after I drove it home, it died out on me, had to get a tow and replace the starter. After the starter was replaced, I drove it home, and it died out again. Found out both batteries and both alternators were bad. I figured I got...
Thanks for the reply. I'll check into the old caddy alternators for next time. It would crank but not turn over. It hesitated, then I guess the batteries drained out and she died. I am going to make a new post asking some advice on if I should keep it or get rid of it. It's been a headache for now.
Hello everyone, I am a new cucv owner myself. It's an 84 and unfortunatly I have had nothing but problems since I've picked it up. I've owned it, <going on the 6th day> and it's been in the shop for 5.
I just picked it up last wednesday, drove it all day with no problems. Thursday was when the...
I am in the chicagoland area, just outside the city limits. I just got my 1984 cucv and honestly think i was ripped off. I am mechanically inclined myself, and with this being a 24v system, along with diesel, I am unsure where/how to fix it thus far.
I just picked it up last wednesday, drove it...
