    Mbu v3

So are they smokey starting? I guess the easiest question to figure this out- would you have one in your kitchen....?

    Mbu v3

Anyone ever played with these? I'm wondering, burning diesel, if they are smokey or not? Could they reasonably be used inside of something like an rv or tent (obviously with an exhaust of sorts) or are they going to make a complete mess of the place? Thanks!

    SouthWind 939J24 Coolant Heaters

propane makes a lot of sense to me if I had other stuff using it, but I've been able to build the entire camper without it thus far. The initial explosive nature doesn't particularly scare me, it's the enclosed space side of it that does. Being that my camper is built on the basis of a conex...

Anyone have any experience with the EASI-M80 heaters?

    SouthWind 939J24 Coolant Heaters

Although I like the idea of the Zodi (I looked at a lot of propane options at one point), I'm trying to steer away from propane at this point because I don't have anything else that is going to use it. Further, the camper is based upon a shipping container and I'm scared to death of a leak, even...

    SouthWind 939J24 Coolant Heaters

I like the ideas but I'd like something that burns diesel fuel...trying to carry just one fuel.

    SouthWind 939J24 Coolant Heaters

Interesting....that's worrisome then. I negotiated one down to $150 and it was NOS so all there, but I didn't realize that reliability was an issue. Why are these such an issue? I was planning to use one for heating a hot water tank that would, in turn, provide shower water.

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

EASI M-80 water heater (fuel fired) Anyone ever taken one of these apart? With the cost of Espar units, I was thinking/wondering about taking one of these apart so I didn’t have the tank.....not sure what to do about the thermostat though. But hot water on demand! Anyone know the fuel...

    SouthWind 939J24 Coolant Heaters

Anyone have reliability issues with these? Thinking about installing one in my camper build to feed the calorifer (hot water tank with coils) as the pricing on these is much better than something like an espar....but then I don't know how reliable/maintenance intensive these are versus a newer...

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

ext questions- reliability- are the S.W. 939J24 reliable units? As much as I don't want to pay for an Espar, there is something to be said about reliability. I have a 6 gallon calorifer hot water tank that I plan to use in conjunction with whatever diesel-fired heater I go with to provide hot...

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

Thanks! I'll take a look at it. It would be awesome to get one for cheaper than the cost of a new espar unit....

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

What’s that kit called? And any idea what trucks they were usually on? I’ve got a friend that sells surplus stuff for parts and with the 150+ parts vehicles, usually tells me I should plan to know what I’m looking for....

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

Hey Wes- not able to view your video for another 10 days due to internet coverage (or lack of). Did you have some ideas??

    Diesel Coolant Heaters

Good Morning, Wasn't sure where to post to get the best response so I figured I'd post in the forum to which I owned a vehicle. Anyone know if any military trucks come out of the factory with diesel coolant heaters? Wasn't sure if any were designed that way. Thanks!

@kloppk Are you enjoying the samlex? Now looking between 2224 and conext 2540. THanks!

    Inverter Preferences (Schneider or Samlex)

Looking to install an inverter. Either going to be a Conext 2524 or Samlex 2224/4024. Anyone have opinions on one over the other? Thanks

    Mep-831a

Hmmm....makes sense. I remember the chargers being an issue but I hadn't even thought about motor windings....that makes total sense- no smooth transition of current (the sine wave). What is a "LOT" of THD? Would you say, then, that up to 25% would be way too much for some stuff like a hot...

    Mep-831a

Thank you for the excellent pictures! That makes better sense. What brand did you end up going with? And essentially, the higher THD begins to act like a "modified Sine Wave", agreed? At least that's how it appears to me, and if I remember, modified sine wave inverters (cheap) are notorious for...

    Mep-831a

Hmmm...So out of curiousity because I am not well-read on THD: Any idea what the THD on the MEP-831A is? I would imagine fairly low as the 832 would power radio equipment which I would think would be very susceptible. 2. THD is essentially the measure of fluctuation in frequency, right? 3...
