    1954 REO M35 Recovery

I spent some more time looking at the truck this morning. It looks like the frame has been stretched for at least a foot in front of the axle and at least a foot behind the axle. A sister plate was added to the outside of the weld for strength. The entire frame that goes into the stake pockets...

    1954 REO M35 Recovery

You caught the safety chain dobacle right away I see... I had a bunch of 15K lb cable and shackles with me. Every time we stopped I looked for a way to safely wrap the cable, but in the end the slow and cautious approach with frequent stops was the answer. The tow feet had G-8 bolts with...

    1954 REO M35 Recovery

Well, I have fallen off the deep end of the pool. A deal came up that I just could not pass up. I have snagged a 54' REO gasser M35. The truck was in Las Vegas, NM so a road trip from Socorro to Vegas was necessary. We exchanged goods on Friday and I got a crisp New Mexico Title in hand. On...

    DAF-YA-126 Recovery

Yeah Stan, it is WAY cool. The whole H drive thing is a trip! It also has a centrally mounted PTO winch between the frame rails... with fair-lead rollers fore and aft. It seems they are fairly rare in the U.S. as well.

    DAF-YA-126 Recovery

What an adventure! 200 miles, tons of smiles, 10 bald tires, one blown tire, and death wobble! I found a DAF-YA-126 on Craigslist a while back, told a buddy about it, and he just HAD to have it! So we brokered a deal and decided to meet the previous owner in Show Low, Az, a little over 200...

New Mexico members check in here!

Bob, no problem unloading your stuff at squirrel area 51. :-P. I do owe Jason bigtime! The beast is picky right now. The crud in the tank seems to migrate its way around when it feels like it. Right now the solution is to flush the filter before I hit the road. Hopefully this stuff passes like a...

What a weekend, 550 miles in a deuce. Ramblings after being behind the wheel.

I have a ton of pictures of Central NM and Southern Colorado (not too many of Southern NM. I have yet to go past the lake.) You can find a ton of photos for your amusement here: rgs20inophir's Public Profile on Photobucket.com For photos of NM/Colorado: Image hosting, free photo sharing &...

!!ATTENTION NEW MEXICO!! - Veterans Day 2011

Hi all! If you are in New Mexico and have Veterans Day (11-11-11) off you should warm up your rig and come to the Paloma Landing Seniors Center in Albuquerque on Veterans Day. The community has a number of WWII and Korea Veterans as residents that have organized a Veterans Day meet-and-greet /...

What a weekend, 550 miles in a deuce. Ramblings after being behind the wheel.

I have been away from the forum for a while, moving, working 3 jobs, and keeping up with classes have taken priority over reading up on OD iron. Unfortunately, this has also meant that I have neglected the deuce a bit. I have not really taken her out much lately other than the occasional run...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I was lifting and moving 55 gal drums and a 100 gal (empty) propane tank. It works well, I just need to make a re-enforcement plate for lifting objects to the side of the truck as it is currently only braced for forwards and aft lifts.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I thought about various places to put it but being able to get the drivers side up near a load and pick it up won out over having the back two sections of troop seats. I rarely haul more than four or five people in the deuce... so having ample seating for 20 just didn't make sense so the back...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I installed a 1/2 ton bed crane from Northern Tool and painted it GREEN. While I had the paint out I covered up the sanded down markings on the front bumper and sprayed the license plate number on both sides of the front bumper.

New Mexico meet and greet ??

Well John, If you guys do decide to go up let me know. We can meet just off of I-25 here in town and then continue North. That goes for anyone heading up from around this neck of the woods (I know we have a couple members down by the lake).
