    How to remove this bushing??

Using a drill and drill bit make a lot of holes all the way around. Making a bolt circle. You will need to use a LOT of oil on the drill bit otherwise the rubber will break the bit. When you have holes all the way around and all the way through, it will loose enough strength that you can knock...

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

Thanks for the info. I did try calling you are correct. Total waste of time. I'll be in the Kingman area so hopefully it won't be too bad if everything works out with the move.

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

I realize this is a very old thread. But I've done some searching and haven't found a answer. I have a job opportunity in Arizona and am trying to figure out if I would be able to get my 998 road legal. It is registered and titled and road legal here in Texas. But I'm wondering if AZ would...

    high flow thermostat

I use the Milodon High-Flow Thermostat PN# 16406 from summit. I have 3 in use now. They are a perfect match for the original Robert Shaw 370-180 that came in the civi 6.2. They fit in both my cucv engines and my Humvee GEP engine. I've had zero problems with them.

    M1009 Fan clutch question

I couple of months back I found a repo of the original 20 inch 7 blade fan used on the civi 6.2 and 454. It's part number OER 3991431. Summit racing is has them for $70. My 82 K20 has this fan. For those of us in hot climates this might be the way to go.

    M1009 Fan clutch question

According to the Hayden website the Severe Duty fan clutch that we use turns at 80 to 90% of the pump shaft speed when engaged. And 20 to 30% when not. So when you turn the engine off, if the fan continues to spin for more that a second or two max it is bad. It should stop almost instantly when...

    M1008 retro build

It's good to see I'm not the only one. My first CUCV I swapped a 292 into. I used to 1/2 inch plates and drilled the bolt holes to fit the passenger side mount. It's the only GM engine built that way. I used a Clifford 4BBL intake and duel headers into a 3 inch exhaust. With a 3 chamber...

    Light switch repair

Believe it or not, not all 3 lever switches are created the same. My 998's switch would trip off after about 15 min of driving. It had a date of June 1992 on it. A friend gave me a NOS switch dated May 2014 on it. When Installed and turned it on every light would come on no matter what position...

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

Good work Mike that looks awesome. You are 100% correct on the centrifuge filter. They work great. If you ever search oil filters you will be shocked how bad of a job they actually do. Very few companies will even tell you what their beta ratio is. Much less how many microns they filter. That...

Yes the tan one is a prefilter. Made by Donaldson. It's mounted high more for keeping sand out in a convoy than for deep water.

M1026 with 1/2 tank of fuel acted like it was empty?

Try removing the fuel filler cap. Let it run a few minutes. If all is well then the tank vent valve is gummed up. If so. Try blowing some air down the vent tube. It is located right behind the rad over flow tank. You will see a small brass looking filter on the line. Listen for bubbles in the...

    Several M998 doubts

There is also a filer in the transmission. It is recommended to change the fluids because you cannot know how long since the last service. Inspect all belts and hoses and replace as needed. It may be in good shape and you may be able to do it at a later date.

    14 Bolt Rear Open Conversion?

I swapped a SM465/NP205 into my first 1028. Back in 1994. It's still running and shifting fine to this day. Every once in a blue moon I have a HARD engagement at a red light. This is my off road toy CUCV and it lives a hard life. You might consider opening it up and inspecting it. I would bet...

Grinding sound when braking after installing new Half Shafts and removing shims

Try reinstalling the shims. If it stops then it is binding. If not then something is broken. This will eliminate the possibility of binding. Also remove the brake rotors and inspect them for hair line cracks. Maybe one was cracked during the shaft install. They may have been overheated in the...

Grinding sound when braking after installing new Half Shafts and removing shims

Reinstall the shims. Removing them moved the geared hubs closer to the diff. This removed the clearance. They are binding while braking and in reverse. I understand you do not hear anything while driving forward. That dose not mean there is enough clearance. This is also binding the bearings...
