    carbon monoxide!

Tragic. For the rest of us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkO9PK4JvJI I often wonder if home owner's associations, local building codes, and homeowners understand why chimneys were built the way they were in victorian times: Hint, they were very tall over the roof lines for a REASON.

    CH-47 Chinook - DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Generally if you have a main rotor with dampers or a landing gear set with tires and shock absorbers you need to make sure they are serviced properly and regularly. If you've have a eurocopter with the elastomer damper in the main hub, you need to strictly follow the airframe manufacturer's...

how hard do you drive it

For now 45MPH in my M1009 simply because I don't trust the 11 year old tires I have on the rear axle. Once I change them out, I'll be darn sure to put it on the highway at 65 often (daily). There wasn't a poll option for that, so I'll vote after I change the tires

    Dash lights M1009

If you do repaint the inside of the cluster use a flat white. Gloss and semi gloss can result in hot-spotting - flat white will spread the light evenly inside the cluster. counter-intuitive I know...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Just finished calculating my long term (6-month) fuel economy average after the fill-up this morning, and it's up to 16.124MPG with nothing but city driving (fastest I ever get is MAYBE 47MPH...). I'm pleased for a mid '80's full sized SUV, my Toyota pickup saw 19MPG city at its peak, and was...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Have you done a head-light harness or a horn relay under the hood? You have to understand that EVERYTHING that signals outside the truck goes through that fuse to the blackout control switch. IMHO it's the single biggest weak point of the electricals in a CUCV, the second being the lack of a...

    Bought a CUCV M1010 !

10 at a time max and file size/resolution seems to matter. No larger than 64kB and no larger than 1024x768. You can load something larger than that once but ti seems to chew up the site. 2cents

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Thanks, it's down to a single quarter sized leak to ground after 8 hours, so I'm winning that battle - truck starts and runs reliably now without manual intervention, truck is basically completely straight now... I'm hoping I can start to work on some of the "improvements" this weekend, and...

The new EPA fuel cans suck!!!

Scepter military fuel cans rather than Scepter consumer fuel cans. Or just take off the lid and use a funnel. I genuinely believe that either the legislators want to stop people from fueling equipment from portable containers, or they never held a fuel can in their lives... My first...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

No I have not had any gel coat issues, that said I also haven;t stripped off the paint covering the rear top - so I'm certain that I should reserve a concrete answer for when I have better intel. Yes, fixing fiberglass finishes correctly is time consuming, but if you want the result you have to...

To start or not to start when wait light is on

If you have a problem with your system where say a wire to a glow plug or two is bad, you can eat new glow plugs in a few start attempts. If your glow relay never opens, you can kill brand new glow plugs before you even get into the driver's seat for the first start... Hard to say if your...

Alabama Army National Guard DRMO turn-in black spray paint special [thumbzup] (that's a mouthful) Yeah, there is camo bleeding through the 383 green all over the place. It looks like they sprayed it green until the spray gun clogged up and then rolled the rest until they got bored :mrgreen...

    Roadside safety: Stay Alive!

This specific issue of accident traffic management is especially poignant to me as about three years ago now, my high school Woodshop/Health teacher and family friend (and one of our high school's beloved football coaches) was killed in a secondary accident after the car he was riding in was...

    Roadside safety: Stay Alive!

Food for thought, if you come to an accident, or are a vehicle in one. Even if you don't have a vehicle large enough to position (and I'm not blanket advocating blocking off lanes of traffic), it's good to be aware of what to expect emergency crews are going to be doing when they arrive...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

No disrespect received - but my wife reads the forum so I need to make sure I stick up for her and giver her credit for her effort when questions come up... That's love baby!! :derailed: Let's pull this back in with a daylight picture of the front end at my work's parking lot...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Stay the course, work through it :tank: - most of the problems I've seen, experienced, or read about on CUCVs are traceable to someone not reading the TM and not understanding the subtle but important differences from the CUCV line to the civilian Chevy's. You will pull this truck back, and the...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Due to reduction in OT this last year (2015), we are nearly making the same, I'm ahead of her primarily because I sold some stock so that I could "play"... No matter who takes home the most cake, an upset partner makes for a rough day for both. 2cents

    M925 a1 armored crew cab

3D CAD freeware from Google/Trimble which also allows you to import 2D drawings and whittle it away until it's a scale accurate 3D image - think 2D satellite imagery and panoramic street-view pictures being converted into 3D buildings and you'll have its roots...
