That's what I did. I checked for shorts and breaks and no go. The way the resistance builds as the RPMs increase almost make me think someone installed a pressure transducer instead of a thermostat (yes I am checking the right one). The resistance seems to max out at about 200k ohms at the...
I know how the switch is "supposed" to work, but this is strange and has nothing to do with temperature. I just bypassed the switch and tied the leads together and confirmed the fan does not come on at high revs when bypassed. I also ohm-ed out the switch while reving and the resistance...
UPDATE: I installed a ground harness and it didn't make any difference. I went ahead and installed a tach at the same time. I also switched out the TDM with a working one at the same time. The fan is kicking in at around 1700-2000 RPMs based on the tach. I have also been researching the TDM...
I agree replacing the stud is the best option in the long run. I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult. Sometimes I get caught up looking for the quick fix. Thanks for the suggestions.
I agree I should have backed it off and used lube in this case. I was partly in a hurry and it was almost off without too much trouble and snapped without what I thought was a large amount of force so I suspect it was already weak. You can see the corrosion on the stud in the pic so it was...
Here is what I am dealing with. I am considering welding a nut or rod-extender to that post and cutting a new bolt stem to thread into it to extend it. That may turn out to be the easiest solution. It's amazing how the simplest jobs turn into these adventures.
I have see them with the positive terminal copper, but that isn't the case on at least this ground stud. I can look at both ends where it sheared off and it is definitely not copper. I will upload pics shortly.
Yeah, I had that part right. 8-) It was about halfway off before it snapped off. This thing came from S. Ga near the coast and has more corrosion than I would like which assisted in the stuck bolt. I thought I could muscle it off and didn't think it was near enough force to shear. From the...
Apparently I used too much force trying to take the nut off the starter and it sheared the bolt off. Does anyone know if I can just use another mount point on the starter or is that one special for any reason? I could try welding another stem to that mount point if necessary but was hoping to...
Thanks for the suggestions. I hope to be able to dig more on Friday. I figured this wasn't normal behavior. If anything, I thought the fan was to disengage at higher speeds to prevent problems with the fan due to airflow. I did check the sensors and verified it is tied in to the temp and...
I am having an issue I haven't seen before. I have searched and checked the TM's to no avail. I have a 94 M998A1 with a fan that engages every time I rev my engine past a certain point. When it engages at high RPMs, there is a buzzing/vibrating/resonating sound with it that goes away a...
You might want to go and buy a lottery ticket. You are very lucky. First purchase approval in 5 weeks and pickup 2 months from purchase is unheard of (my first took 8 months), not to mention that may be the cleanest M998 I have ever seen from GP and you drove it home @65mph without any...
Probably half the listings I have checked showed this area of the engine in at least one of the pics. I have found 2-3 that were mislabeled on GP including one I won.

I have read that the Yellow striped TSU works with both KDS and Nartron S3 models. My TSU must have been bad. It was a silver label with a Nartron S3, replaced with a yellow label and works perfectly now. Thanks.
Greg,
Did you have an S3 prior to installing the Nartron S3? I had a 1993 that had an S3 and mine would blink 14 times before going out. I replaced my TSU with a yellow band from Kascar ($25) and it resolved my issue and it works perfectly now. Previously I had a silver band TSU. I...
Could it be an antenna cable? I have never seen one run like that but many have them run from the front of the cab to the rear antenna mounts. It's would be a black sheathed cable.

You may be right about SWAT, but I was finally able to get my SF-97 last week for the HMMWV I purchased back in October thanks to JWade's help. Much appreciated JWade!
