Just installed a few things in the HMMWV and I thought that I would share this one. I picked up the underbody kit a few months back, but just got around to the install. I will start by saying that the install was not too bad, but I had to do some minor modification. I borrowed this first image...
We have not had any snow yet this year to test mine out. I hate snow and cold, but I have been looking forward to the snow this year for that reason. While I don't expect it be like my Subaru, it will be interesting if nothing else. The tires are not conducive to easy driving in the deeper...
Unless your seats are really wide, there should be a few inches available to move the seats closer to the vehicle's center so that your seatbacks will clear the reels.
Hopefully yours comes quicker than mine. EUC cleared just about 100 days after purchase. If you get the urge to drive one in the meantime, let me know. I'm just down the road from you in Plainfield.
I ordered a few sets of the OSRAM Truckstar Pro bulbs from the UK almost a month ago that have yet to arrive. So for now I used the bulbs that came with the lenses and those were a significant improvement. It will be interesting to see the difference between the two if they ever show up.
They are sold individually for $70 each and include a bulb and the ceramic plug with the packard connectors. So you wouldn't need to buy those parts separately.
And yes they are glass lenses.
Yes. I dropped them an email with a description of the issue as well as a link to this thread.
Now that they are connected up proper, I would definitely recommend them. I just spent about a 1/2 hour driving with them and they are a VERY big improvement over the sealed beams. My visibility...
This is all making a lot of sense now. I was thinking my low beam is definitely a bit dimmer than it was prior to install. The high beam was awesome, though. I'll give it a whirl and report back.
So last week I completed a H4 headlight conversion using the headlights from those military guys:

Install was simple. I gave the lights a quick test on low beam and high beam. Works great... onto next project.
Tonight was...
Even with the very loose fit of the old windshield, mine didn't seem to leak. With the way this new one fit after trimming the gasket, I didn't see using RTV. As I understand it, the windshields were never meant to be "sealed" in place as this makes changing in the field more difficult.
I think...
So I just replaced the RH windshield of my HMMWV and figured I would document it for others to have the information down the road. I know a few folks have contacted auto windshield/glass replacement companies and struck out. Don't waste your money or time with those guys.
Is replacing the...
I just installed these earlier today: http://www.thosemilitaryguys.com/h4-head-light-conversion-dot-approved/
It was nice that everything was included. The switchover took me less than 10 minutes. Very pleased with the outcome!
Optima no longer makes the 6TL adapters and has not for quite some time. If you can even find them, they generally go for far more than they did when they were new. I paid $100 for the pair a few months back. I have seen a few sets pop up on ebay for similar money.
