I spy what appears to be the AC compressor in there! If you can that may be worth a second look. If you were in the market for a 6.2 project rebuilt, etc. check that engine to see if it is one of the famed 'red blocks'. Did you buy his other 6.2?
Nicely done! I was considering mounting my Thule rack on the rain gutter plates they make. Won't look as cool and I'd have to drill into the upper sides of the fiberglass top to install the plates. Drilling always makes me nervous...
Yes, they have made a big difference. The originals were pretty bad, two were totally shot. So it may be a case of 'wow, something different'. There is still the typical bounce but much tighter, like a 3/4 ton truck. The body roll after a dip in the road has been reduced. Woulda a set of...
AR Yankee - Sorry for the delay. The Monroe SensaTrac for the rear is 37041 and for the front is 37040. The steering stabilizer is Monroe - SC2913.
All except the rear was easy. But maybe my rear top bolts were pretty rusted. Enjoy!
Replaced all four shocks with Monroe's and the steering stabilizer. Changed the front and rear differential fluids...tightened the power steering belt - what a pain!
Used the grey gasket goo on the diffs. Really good stuff. Steering stabilizer went on pretty easy - had to soak the mounting...
I thought I'd start a thread that shows off what we can carry with these rigs. I've seen a few good roof racks out there. So lets see them!
Got Christmas Tree??
Very interesting! You've been hard at it sir! Great pics...looks like you have quite a modification going on there!! Can't wait to see how it comes out. Cheers!!
Welcome! Great looking truck. I keep telling myself this is a project and enjoy working on it and driving it. I hope to have mine as a daily driver and family fun rig as soon as possible. Enjoy and buy some printer ink - those tech manuals are huge!!!
Both those rides look great! I like the height on the 1028. The re-arching of the springs on the 1009...that made a huge difference in the balance front to rear. Most of those I see around, including mine, seem to have settled some in the rear. Looks like I need to get those springs to the...
A very good series of questions. I have two such aftermarket gauges sitting on the shelf in line for install after I solve other more pressing issues. At least once a weekend I look at them, read the directions and ponder for a moment or two what I plan to do with them. The side by side of...
I just found this from when I had removed a left side A pillar for repairs on my m1009's roof. This one is sunk in a bit on top in the center, but it shows the three layers above the windshield.
I just read one of the threads below that indicates there is only 1/2 inches between the ceiling and roof. That seems a little small but its always good to be on the safe side! I would stick with 1/2 to 3/4 inch sheet metal screws if you can.
I think there are actually three layers at the...
I have been in there...it was a scary adventure - much rust. I digress..
At the front near the windshield it looked like about a 1 1/2 inch space between the actual roof and the interior ceiling. As it goes back toward the beam you described that meets the fiberglass top a 4 inch space exists...
