I have several large trucks 5ton(s), deuces and LMTV... the trick to survival is a strong local group of friends who can come help in a pinch... they can pull you out, bring parts or tools and will be grateful for your assistance when they need it.
My 2.5 cents...
I'm still looking for the right size gauge for this, In the meantime I installed a airchuck on the far left tank to check pressure.... is it more accurate off of the wet tank, or does it matter?
Ahh ok, ill check those
on a side (safety) note, is it possible (or advisable) to start the truck with the cab tilted? I can access the Governor from the under the cab but this question has bugged me a bit...
It is not getting pressure as I can tell.. and I confirmed that the line is clear and drying is working by applying EXTERNAL air to the line to see if it purges..
its kinda tough to see what pressure that is at directly unless I plumb in a gauge. Im not quite sure there is another way to do...
Hey all, been working on the air brakes on this truck for some time. when I bought this truck it had 1500 original miles (yes really) the fifth wheel still had factory paint and not a scratch... it would not build brake pressure past 60psi at all, so with help from this forum I was able to...
An update on this issue... Since getting the pressures up, I've been running it around the farm and was able to get the truck under the M373 trailer we have. We needed to get the truck underneath the trailer since its landing legs are not functional and missing critical parts... We bought a...
were on very fertile farm of over 200 years so anything even remotly heavy gets the landing pad treatment. in the case of semi trailers we have pads of 4 2x12x24 that make a solid pad of 24x24 under each leg like a #. been there done that..

Awesome Ronmar, thanks man... I bought 4 group 31 batteries to get it home, so i have those already.
This truck is doing great, air pressure it at 110 after 5 days, and fires right up...
thanks for all the assistance... we will be putting this under our M373 maint trailer this weekend...
all,
been working through issues with my M1088 and its time for batteries. ive been using just some group 31type batteries suffed in the space and strapped in.
what options have poeple been using for batteries on these? 6TL or equiv is what it takes, but in my 923 5 ton i have used 2 group...
thanks for the details ronmar. i understand more now. i dug up a pressure guage today so ill check the pressure on the wet tank and see if the ctis switch is working...
sounds like every thing else is as it should be... ill close this thread and start another if more issues come up.
thanks...
yea i felt the pressure was too high simply because its pegged the guage.. i would expect 100-110... im def gonna see if the guages are correct, and also dig into the governor connections..
thanks
Chris
Update...
replacing the two check valves allowed the truck to build 90lbs of pressure in under 2 min.
now however i think it still not shutting off the air compressor as it should. its still blowing air out the air dryer every now and then... also ctis not working, but we are getting there...
