essentially the two radios are both connected to the intercom, one as the A radio and the other as the C radio (B is rx only, for like R442).. the AM-2060 uses the same mount as the RT524, and has the same connections via the mount... although its only ~2 watts out, whatever the PRC in it can...
I'd be more concerned about the level of Ethanol in the fuel. I will go bad much faster than "normal" gas since it absorbs water. no amount of additives will prevent that except removing the ethanol...
if you don't drive it often, the fuel can turn in as little as 6 weeks. you can find...
bronco_buddy, but they dont have anymore, they are local to me and when i went to pick it up, they said it was the only one they ever saw...
it can be made simply enough, both the connectors are available. i have several connectors, just didn't want to go though the trouble. The female...
its possible (really its just audio and a key circuit), but your biggest issue / concern will be to isolate the PRC77 from the VIC1 24 volt circuits. you will need to use the same circuit described here..

Im designing it to integrate with...
you could wire an H250 to it, but there could be some differences in the impedance between the two, which would manifest in low signal or too high... I've wired funny mics to the Cobra LT stuff before and they "work", (purists may whine, but it will look cool)
im not too worried about keying or...
this part of the requirement worries me..
There are the kind used in Firetrucks, but few that are "portable" and get ready for some $$$
I'm wiring much of what your talking about into the VIC1...

There are lots of specific details on the mentioned website PRC68.com, but ill give my opinions..
Here is a nice chart defining the differences in the PRC-68--PRC-128 radios
PRC-68 Family of Radios
1) What was it designed for
I was in the Army and used all three radios in *real* military...
since there really isn't a forum about military radios per-se... (nothing searchable, only "discussion" groups... [which is so 1995] ) .. I wanted to document this project for the masses,
1) because its cool
2) i like to hear myself talk
3) my therapist says its best for my marriage... :-)
I...
not if the VIC "main power" is in "INT Only", if you switch it to "Norm" you are correct it requires power on the radio.. Switch the vic to "int" and it runs fine..
yea, the two MX-6707 probably look sharp on the truck... hook the R442 to one and the RT524 to the other... then you have something more than a flagpole on the truck :-)
its dual use now..
use whichever antenna port on the R442 is convenient, they are both electrically the same.
The R442 usually is connected to the AB-15/gr antenna,
The is a base the the popular MS-116, MS-117, MS-118 antenna elements... its for receive only..
you can however use an extra MX-6707+antenna like the RT524, it will work fine but not "spec".
The multiple BNC antenna connectors are...
Just FYI..
you should not need to power the AM-1780 with its own power if you are running a MT-1029, (with or without the radio) the AM-1780 gets its power from the CX4723 cable... from the radio, the AM-1780 "Installation switch" (slotted no dial on bottom right) should be in "OTHER" (center...
Thats a 6meter (30-75 mHz) antenna, i have used mine with many different radio sets including ham grade 6 meter gear and military, RT524, R442, PRC25, PRC77 it is essentially a vertical coax dipole..
you will need to manually rotate the tuner on the base to the ham bands to use it with ham gear.
