    Universal Joint M1009

You could drive in 4wd until the replacement comes in. Then if it does snap just slip the drive shaft off and come on home in 2wd. Another option is drive it and if it does snap then remove drive shaft and put it in 4wd. The only issue here is getting the hubs to lock it since it take about 1...

    M1009 Value

I bought my 1009 in TX 18 months ago and got it right at $2k but think I got a good deal. It had a 12v conversion (hurts it in my opinion), drivable, decent tires, no rear seat, cracked front glass, and a few rust holes (not bad). I've replaced batteries and glow plugs and a few other parts...

    CUCV Brush guard attachment

Will two tires fit in there? Wasn't for water as they would bounce out the bottom.

    CUCV CB Antenna

I used an AB558 base and MS116, 117 & 118 for an antenna. The AB558 takes a standard coax connector, so setup was easy and no permanent modifications were required. While perhaps not perfect, I can send, receive, and listen to the radio with this combo, so it met my needs. Later went back and...

Question on rear drums for a m1009

Thanks Doghead it was late and sorry for not being clear. What I couldn't find was the "GM 14072937" which is clearly stamped onto the drums I was sent. I know the part numbers change for some small design change but I could find zero reference to 14072937 part. Sound like I should ask for a...

Question on rear drums for a m1009

I purchased a set of rear drum that said they were for a M1009. The were NOS but now I'm wondering if they are actually the correct drums. The only markings I can find are the numbers: GM 14072937 and then on the other side: Max Diameter 11.24 Then the numbers W-10 I've search around and...

    starting issues

When you say not starting what does it do? Sluggish but tries to start? Regular starting and just won't fire off? Any smoke? Have you done anything with your glow plugs (check the TM on how to test)? These will help narrow it down a little.

Wheel Spacers - Aluminum or Steel ?

I used aluminum spacer on my old CJ7 for years, drove the Jeep 35 miles each way to work everyday. Right at first they would get loose and had to tighten them up. After about 6 months they stopped doing it. I continued to check them regularly but no issues after that. Remember that spacers...

    My new mechanic

Doubt it, I try to avoid the interstates as much as possible. While she will do 70+ I much prefer the 55-60 range.

    My new mechanic

Yes sir! She's been driving it since I got it home. She was the first to break down in it when the u-joint snapped in the snow and mud last year. So far all drive time on back roads and trails but she does good. Beginner's license coming next year so the real fun will start.
