LMTV to OE18, Our Achilles Heel and other diversions...

From my point of view you get the following- a new truck with warranty. for example... a 1997 LMTV brand new. its the same thing that ICON is doing with the old Scouts and Land Cruisers. Just making them new and modern. I don't know what the prices were but you start at one level and go up from...

    Another fuel issue

Ok so my truck runs like a top. I check everything over before every start up. This engine fires up fast every time. Now for the fueling issue......I had an issue back about 4 months ago where I started the truck and it stumbled and stalled. Acted like there was air in the line. I primed the...

LMTV to OE18, Our Achilles Heel and other diversions...

I saw the trucks and know someone that went that route. Works for the short term. In the long run the camper will come apart little by little. They didn't even put matching tires on them. But it is an option to do it that way. Just not for me, or for that price.

    Overland Expo, West.. Who's going???

Well it’s now a wrap of the Overland Expo West! It was great to see everyone there and I’m sure I didn’t get to meet everybody. It was great to see Dave and the Montero truck crew again. Also Seth and Candy. You had a pile of people through your truck! I met Rocky Pace, what a down to earth guy...

M1090 seems to be starving for fuel under any load

I looked at the CAT primer and it was pricy! It isn't a primer bulb but rather a push pull style primer housed into a metal housing. I didn't go with it as I didn't have the time where I was located to reconfigure the system. You would need fittings, mounting brackets, and whatever else I didn't...

M1090 seems to be starving for fuel under any load

I should have stated clearer in LAST post that I did replace my filter/primer with the RACOR unit. I purchased it through Parker store. They carry RACOR.

M1090 seems to be starving for fuel under any load

Crownfire, I just went through this myself and Steve in Kentucky also. This is what I did. Hose is 3/8 inch line and -6 AN fittings. I used pushlock style fittings and hose so I can make my own hoses. I also found that the Primer bulb was leaking. You can get it all at your local Parker store...

    M1078 LMTV Cab raising

(I hope you've already read this in the manual, and aren't just coming here first because you don't want to bother looking it up.) Its funny how so many just refuse to look at the manual first. I'm not saying this guy didn't, but it seems to be a running theme. It's **** near a pop up picture...

Oh I'm going to be there. If it snows I might be hard to spot though! Otherwise I stick out like a sore thumb. Plan on leaving San Diego Thursday after work.

M1078 camper in the Glamis dunes Thanksgiving 2016

Figure I would post up a small story with chain of events that caused my alternator to go out which put my truck down for over a month. I was getting her ready for the upcoming Overlanding Expo and it just occurred to me what had happened too cause this trouble. I was thinking about someone else...

    Air Brake Info and Troubleshooting

Just stopped by my local truck shop yesterday to get parts and figured I would post these pics up so others can see what the inside of an airbrake chamber basically looks like. Just for your curiosity.

Well, I done did it. Won a m1078. Need to get it home... In Wahington - any suggesti

What year is your truck? Maybe it was one of the last trucks on a run and they just used whatever they had left? I doubt that's the case. I have known people who have worked in auto industry and in the military refurbishment factories. Some just do things as a prank or a dig at a supervisor and...

    Cab mount bushings

I don't have a pic of it installed off hand but it looks just the original bushing except about 1/8 inch smaller in diameter. I will try to get to the truck tonight and get pic if I can.

FMTV Do You Leave your Cab Air Springs / Leveler Engaged?

Here is what I was taught in the military to operate the truck. While driving the truck the air bags will be unpinned and filled with air, on road and off road. When parking over night drain the tanks. When transporting the truck in an aircraft, release the air from the bags and pin the bags in...
