Well I have finally been able to test the truck in some real heat camping in the truck. Now I don't have the cab ac completed yet. Still need to install the hoses and all. I had to go to Las Vegas so I also some time out at Lake Mead. It was 110 degrees where I was at with zero shade. The truck...
I agree with many of the for mentioned concerns. I know a few people who have purchased the cheapest MV they could and wondered why it cost so much to get running. It is a gamble when you purchase any MV or any vehicle off of an auction site. I also know people who have honestly no business...
As for the 3 point mounts ? Not sure where people are going to take their trucks but I hope the expense is worth it.
I agree. I have been using my truck and driving it through serious twisting terrain. I have not needed it nor thought after my build I should have built it in. I have a machine...
No locker or highway gears. My truck does 62,verified by gps, on the flats. I don't deal with deep mud like back east. But in the dunes I haven't needed it at all. If a wheel spins on the ground or in the air, I just use the brakes to transfer the power to the other wheels. Has worked for me and...
As you have seen my camper box, I angled mine. However, when you do you lose a tremendous amount of storage space. If you don't think you will really drop off steep river/wash edges I wouldn't angle it. Space is more important then looks. IMHO. Now with that said, they way I use my truck I did...
I'm sure you have planned for this but I will say it anyways, Make sure you add enough room above and around your transfer case when building your box to allow for tools to fit in there later for possible repairs. Hate to see someone overlook these small things and have to lift entire camper up...
I haven't been posting up much lately as I have been very busy with work and my other projects. As for the last question, It weighs 22,500lbs fully loaded with all my stuff, I live in it full time. So those of you who have owned and lived in an RV, you know how much stuff you can actually get in...
HAHAHA yes I do read these posts. I have Not posted anything lately as I have been working on the Pro-touring Chevelle. I am still waiting on the new replacement Hot water heater to arrive for my truck and then get the new fan clutch and ac install going again.
That's why I made my own. 1. I got exactly what I wanted, not what someone wanted to sell me. 2. it was cheaper to build it, then to have a company one off a rack. Not that Yakama or the others couldn't. Its just that they have to pay there designers, stop a run of other racks, and of course...
I just noticed in the pic that this truck has DEF fluid and smog mod installed. I wonder why they spent that kind of money on it. I live in Ca. and they don't even require it to be on the truck. I know that system is many thousands of $$$$. I'm curious why.
I just rotated my muffler and exhaust pipe, then cut and turned the tip. That put mine just in front of the forward drivers rear leaf spring hanger. That made enough room for my generator to mount. Also able to keep my particulate scavenger system in place.
Thanks Keith. I was just talking about you yesterday with Steve while he is building his camper. I have been doing small things in mine but mostly just out enjoying it. I need to finish up the cab air soon as San Diego is starting to heat up. As of now, the summer circle track season is already...
You cant do that, It has to be all designed in CAD or at least Sketch-up first before you can even think about building this sort of thing MASSPILOT. HAHAHA just joking! I know you use Hand CAD. You cant fool me! Its looking good by the way. Now just hurry up already and lets go on a trip. Oh...
All,
I am glad to share all of my build pics with anyone who wants them. I will also try to help you answer any questions I can. However, I don't want to take the time to do a whole write up and post all of the pictures on this site. Love the site but posting all of my build pics at this point...
Yes I did mount a second stock tank. Look at my posts and there are picks. Yes, you have to notch the tank to fit around the spring hanger. No, my stock tanks are not lined with a coating nor are they bullet proof. I hear the MRAP tanks are polly inside. That's why I used stock. I bought mine...
Guys, now I will never be able to sleep again! Here I was worrying about driving my truck today or tomorrow. Now I have to worry about what my final ratio is!? Sheesh. Of course I'm kidding. But I understand, it is important to others.
I used a square sheet of aluminum that spanned the factory floor mounts. I attached it to the seat and then put it in the truck and then put it where I wanted I, marked floor mount bolt holes on the aluminum, drilled the holes and bolted the seat down. Bam done! I also used a set of sliders so...
