Has anyone bought an M1009 that doesn't start?

I was lucky on mine I guess. It was listed as not starting. Both batteries were there, one of them shot, the other not real strong. I replaced both, checked fluids and gave it a try...fired up right away and starts instantly since then. Would I do it again? Probably, but I want a tank next time...

I'm jealous of all of the shop and storage room you have out there. :) Great work!!!

    Question about my cap.

Is it a camo paint job? If so, you could use it as a cozy little duck blind maybe? ;) Just pullin your chain a little. Kinda sounds like Bubba needed to haul something that wouldn't fit without the hole.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Sort of...lol. I just fabbed those on there a week or so ago to support a big piece of camo netting that attaches at the cab and pulls back over the bows. I haven't decided if I'm going to put the top on over the winter or not, but if I don't, I'm going to make a canvas drop with a "flap window"...

More filling, more sanding...my arms are falling off Sometimes I think the filling and sanding will never end, but then I usually just get a couple of hours at a time in on her. I did also take time this morning to adjust my passenger side door so the front of the door doesn't catch on the back...

What spray equipment do you use for your paint jobs, if you don't mind? Thx.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Four sawsall blades, four + hours, lots of sweat and I finally got all six bolts cut off so I could remove the brush guard. A few good whacks with a hammer and it's all straight now. This also gives me much better access to the grill to get it painted. A little bit at a time and one of these...

Sanded on it more today. Started trying to get the brush guard bolts off......what a PITA...having to sawsall most of them and they aren't exactly easy to get to.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Filled little dings and dents with Bondo. Finished fabbing and mounting trailer bows in back to mount camo netting. Took it our for a little drive. It's really butt ugly right now with the sanding, spot prime and more yet to do on it, but it was still fun to have out for a while. :)

    New Seats for CUCV

1/2 Clorox 1/2 water solution will kill any mildew. But, get it on your clothes and you will have spots...doesn't matter much how soon you wash them. On the seats, spray it on, let it sit a few minutes and wash it off.

Used my M101A1 for heater recovery at Ft. Riley

Drove up to Ft. Riley, KS Tuesday morning with my M101A1 to pick up a multi-fuel heater I won a couple of weeks ago. Would have been nice if my M1009 was done and reliable enough to make the trip, but I used my work truck instead. I stopped in Salina, KS. to see Glenn, but he had gone to lunch...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Yes, that could very well be true about the porosity difference. As for the aluminum, we always use a specialty metal paint. Since I've never seen it happen in 30+ yrs of painting, I 'm not gonna worry about that, but I am getting ready to paint my 1009 and have already purchased the Behr paint...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Sure, if we had stucco houses around here, but most of the homes here are wood or hardboard siding which is a pretty smooth surface. Maybe it's just not as noticable on the houses like it is on a vehicle like you said.

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

That's all pretty interesting and could very well be true, but can you explain then why you don't get the same streaking on a house paintied with those paints? We are residential/commercial painters and I've never experienced that.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

My brake lights quit working. Cleaned fuse block and installed new fuse...new bulbs...still nothing for brake lights. Flashers worked, turn signals worked so I knew there was juice getting back there. Finally pulled the "commutator/acuator" at the brake pedal and replaced it...HOORAY, I have...

Seat belt install with pics in my M1009 Well, this was about the easiest and cheapest upgrade/mod I've done on the M1009 so far. I bought a "rear" seat belt kit from member "humslr" for $24 plus shipping ($15). The reason I ordered the "rear" kit is because someone else said they had put them...
