    Who has an MEP-016E?

I may still have the solenoid. I don't plan to use it. I like to keep it simple. Batteries and such on small gens that I can pull start are just expensive and tedious to maintain to me.

Poll: Good All Round Clamp-On Meter

I have several Fluke meters, including one clamp type. Fluke makes good stuff.

    Messed up big time

Use TM 5-6115-615-34. The pin/fork relationship should be connected to the external governor linkage. Did you put the governor linkage in the mid position when you installed the IP? You may try turning the motor over by hand, if the IP is being actuated by the cam and the pin/fork are...

    MEP002A won't come up to 1800 at start-up

IIRC, pulling or turning the knob clockwise increases speed.

    MEP002A won't come up to 1800 at start-up

Assuming the knob is properly installed and calibrated, right?

    MEP002A won't come up to 1800 at start-up

The solenoid should engage/disengage at startup/shutdown. If it starts and then goes off when you turn the switch off then the solenoid is most likely working. Try the knob all the way in and then all the way out and see which one gets you better speed. Don't let it idle for long but you...

    MEP002A won't come up to 1800 at start-up

Make sure the governor and linkage is in good working order. Try turning the speed adjust knob and see if it comes up to a higher speed.

    just bought 2 MEP-701A

Download the TMs. The output lugs will have different outputs depending on where you set the reconnect switch inside the box. Diagram in the TMs. Sounds like you might have a bad 24V charging regulator. Troubleshooting and replacement should be in the TMs.

    Wisconsin Robin Diesel Genset

Seems like a good little gen, light and well made. However, they are not like MEPs in that they are not under rated. A 3kW MEP-016D will push about 4.5kW power. The 30D36R might push 3.5kW for a short period but will not push 4.5kW at all. Also, they have the benefit (or drawback) of having...

    Wisconsin Robin Diesel Genset

    Wisconsin Robin Diesel Genset

That's a 30D36R. Baldor makes a modern version with Hatz power. Fuel filter is 2436210120. I have one here in front of me. Crosses to Baldwin BF7847 and Woodgate WGF9341. Fuji/Robin DY27. Civilian engine manuals and TM are on the www in pdf form...

MEP-701 MEP-016b no power from convenience outlet, terminals and fuses are OK

Fuses either right next to the convenience outlet or inside the box, no? Seems like two fuse holders but only one wired with a fuse, IIRC.

    Bypass 002A Reconnect Switch

If one wanted to get rid of the reconnect switch or maybe one is in the field and the switch fails how would one go about bypassing the reconnect switch and wiring the gen for 120/240V output only? Do the gen output wires terminate on a terminal strip that can be used to combine wires and...

    5k broken reconnect switch.

You can fix the reconnect switch or if you don't need it you can just wire it the way you want and bypass the switch. What 5k set is it? I have a 017A parts unit that may have one in it.

    Noise suppression on gas gennies

If you're running it on concrete then maybe put some rubber isolation pads underneath. Plywood will probably be in short supply but if you can bring some up you might make a little 4' wall around it. Every little bit helps but you're starting with a screaming 3600 RPM banshee. Behind the...

Problems with Yanmar L70 in MEP 016D

The motor needs air and fuel, the right amount at the right time. Start with those. Make sure the IP isn't gummed up. The gens usually sit for months before auction and sometimes the fuel gets gummy in the pumps. Double check the valve clearances. Check intake path and exhaust path for...

Problems with Yanmar L70 in MEP 016D

Also, do you have TM 9-2815-257-24?

Problems with Yanmar L70 in MEP 016D

There is a pin that goes into a notch when you install the injector. There is a little metal tab that you can remove to view the pin/notch relationship. Is the pin in the notch?

MEP-003a installing Dynagen ES52 autostart speed sensing issues

You may try and avoid the frequency meter components. Try the convenience outlet hot leg if it does frequency sense from the AC. It probably has about a 1 minute timer to let the gen get running and stabilized before the sensing is needed.

MEP-003a installing Dynagen ES52 autostart speed sensing issues

It probably wants RPM from the engine somehow. You may have to add some kind of tach setup or change the way the controller senses speed. It won't do frequency sensing?
