Yes on the title. Top, doors, accessories not important. M151A1 or A2. Body does not have to be perfect. Not looking for a major restoration project, however. I' interested in a running Mutt. I am willing to put some work into it. I guess the short answer is not a frame off restoration but...
I'm looking at a couple of M151's. One is uncut and pretty well restored, although the passenger floor pan was repaired. The other was cut and repaired and in a lot less condition. I just started looking at these, so I do not know much about them. It a cut jeep ok provided it was put back...
Ok an update.
I finally got around to getting a replacement air buzzer. I plugged it in and at least the replacement doesn't cause the low air light to go out. But the buzzer did not work.
I put a meter on the wire that goes to the buzzer. The meter reads 24V until the truck builds 60PSI as it...
Here's a few pictures, including the manufacturer and part number. I bought mine at my local CAT service center, but I'm sure these can be had online or elsewhere.
I'll get some posted later today. Very basic install, even for not having any experience with doing so. There is a soft plug under the turbo on the right side of the engine block that the block heater replaces. Knock out the soft plug (making sure to not knock it into the engine block), let the...
I finally got around to installing it today. The existing block plug was easily removed and the heater installed easily after I drained the coolant. Refilled coolant, and bled the air out of the system...good to go. Took about 2 hours and I wasn't working at a fast pace.
Plugged it in and the...
I bought mine a lot further than 350 miles away. I used www.uship.com to get shipping quotes. The quotes are non-binding and you can decide to drive it if the shipping is too much, or go another route (towing company, etc).
If the truck is in good working order, you might want to cosider the...
FYI....if anyone has been contemplating a block heater as I have been.
I stopped at my local Caterpillar service center today and picked one up for $57. It's an aftermarket model "Hotstart" that Cat sells as a replacement for theirs.
It installs in the freezeplug on the right side of the...
My agency has three. We have used ours quite a bit in flooding and some search and rescue in wooded areas. Other agencies have called and asked for one to get in somewhere normal police vehicles can't get to. Also to haul stuff to the range facility. The top dog sent word down last week he...
I had State Farm (customer for almost 20 years) until last month @ $300 per year with no restrictions. They switched me to a commercial policy without notice and it more than doubled. That switch cancelled all my multi-car discounts as well.......I switched to Grange (switched everything...3...
Flushed radiator, filled with new coolant. Drained all three differentials and filled with new gear oil. Changed transmission filter and fluid.
Took it for a long ride :)
I was looking to not pay my Cat dealer for Cat priced coolant. I guess I should have stated that I understood about the additives. I just left Napa with some diesel rated pre-mixed coolant.
They tested my coolant for me to make sure there was nothing in it also.
Thanks for the help!
I'm going to drain and replace the coolant in my M35a3 over the weekend. Is there a recommended type of coolant or is "prestone", etc ok to use? I looked in the TM but could only find the capacities, etc.
