for some reason I cant open that Link, I just wanted to hear actual experiences ... I did a research for myself aswell And for gluing: If it can glue helicopter blades together I think its way more hazardous than CARC ..that must be serious stuff. I think I´d rather stick with the welder... (I...

welding on a CUCV / CARC

Well I have a replacement "weld in" part so I just have to cut the bad area out & weld the new one in, will 2" of clean metal to the paint be enough or how much space should be sanded ? I think I will weld outside when its not windy, or near to the door with both open in the garage, that should...

welding on a CUCV / CARC

So finally I got the possibility to buy a decent MIG welder (its old, but I tried it in the "shop" of the guy I bought it from, its doing really nice welds & everything works as it should) and I paid just a "few" bucks :clinto: and got even a full gas bottle with it! ..So nothing can stop me...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I replaced the "rear pinion seal" (is that the correct term?) ..it was leaking diff oil if you drove for more than a hour, when it was hot it started to drip. So I decided it had to be done before the winter hits us (snow already on the "Feldberg" Mountain near me :cookoo: ...I´m also 800m...

Normal For M1009 To Smoke Under Load?

my 6.2 does smoke when pushing the pedal hard, I´d say thats pretty normal. In idle or when running in a smooth speed it shoulndt smoke, only under heavy load / accelerating hard / hills etc. the only video of my m1009 throwing smoke is the mudbog one .. as said, its amout of smoke seems...

Has anyone installed a pre-lube system?

The only engine in a vehicle used by me with a pre-lube system was a CATERPILLAR 775E Quarry Truck with a 28L V12 Turbodiesel (~800 HP) ..I dont think its necessary on a 6.2, just do oil changes regularly and you should be good.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

To prevent this from happening just put some fresh oil or grease on the Oil Filter Seal ;) then tighten it by hand only! When you do your next oil change it will come off easy with a strap style filter wrench or with just strong hands ;)

    New Owner of CUCV

Welcome to the site! its a Diesel so dont floor the pedal when the engine is cold, nor pour gas in it ;) ..if you want you can add some 2stroke oil (around 250ml on a full tank) to help lube the Injection Pump. change the engine oil regularly, roughly every 5k miles or so. Always oil & filter...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

dont you have problems with the fan throwing water into the aircleaner and therefor killing the engine when you are in "brakepedal" deep water :? ..thats what I fear ...
