Used my CUCV to rescue my K1500 ...it went really cold here and I wanted to make space for oncoming traffic on a small rural road...slipped right off the road and into the ditch, had to use sandsheets and salt (for the road to get grip) ...since all the roads were white and not salted yet I...
Are your batteries both in good condition? can you be sure your batterie cables are good, they can rot inside and you wont notice from the outside. Are your mass contacts good?
you could try to hook a slave cable from the engine block to the - of your front batterie. Of course with no elektric...
Since we are in the - degrees in germany now I took the CUCV out for a Snow trip, brought some old, broken parts to the scrapyard and had some fun wheeling in the fresh snow. She started great up after about a month of sitting in the garage, smoked a bit for few seconds but then maintained a...
you know there is a swabian saying: if you buy cheap you buy twice. I would bite the bullet and buy Boschs or something else valuable..why not have your old ones rebuild at Bosch? I think thats possible.
greetings from Black Forest ;)
thats just what a sticker in my 98 6.5td says to do, in extreme cold weather "if it fails to start within 15 seconds of cranking let starter rest for a minute then try again, it should start now"
I changed all shocks on my ´09 today, the old ones were totally worn out, you could push them down by hand and they wont ever come back up. I aswell changed the steering one. The left one on the rear was a mess to get out all other came off pretty easy.
No more "basketball" when going through...
Well I think its actual size isn´t that unnormal compared to a BMW X5 or those GT series, VW Touareg or Porsche Cayenne ...I think its more the fact that its old, dirty, rugged ..and loud :D but yeah small cars are normal here ...some people even call ford rangers "big american pickup trucks" ...
welcome tonkasal
since we had lots of rain during the last days and dry roads and the end of the day (all the salt they spent on the little snow we had was washed away) I decided to wake my ´09 up. Took the truck to the gas station, got some diesel and a sip of 2stroke oil and then we went to...
the coldest start I ever had was about ~15 F, it cycled for about 30 seconds before the wait-light went out, then it fired right up (I kept the pedal floored while the starter was turning, when it ran by itself I released it) and I had some smoke for a minute. If its that cold it can idle a few...
if your batteries are proven to be good, make sure every contanct is clean & good. I had a bad "-" contact in the bus bar on the fire wall, cleaning and reinstalling the cable was a 1 minute job. It corroded during the winter when I didn´t use the CUCV. (also a batterie died though I put them...
when going downhill in the quarry and slamming the brake harder than I should my ´09 will lock up all wheels pretty quick :P ..Never tried on a pickup since I dont own one or have someone with one around :(
when its below 0 I start it this way: make sure every switch is in "off" position (radio, heater, lights) , then put key in and turn on, shortly before the "wait" light goes off, I floor the pedal, then release it about half-way and hold, when the "wait" light finally is off I turn the key over...
I need to do a cold start vid aswell..but I wait for real low temps & more snow around here to try if my Truck still starts fine (the lowest was -5°C I think) did you turn the IP on a bit? mine does not smoke unless I floor the pedal when going uphill (the traffic behind me hates it)
