What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Sun and nothing else to do today, so I decided to do the engine oil & filter change, since the oilpan had some little rust I decided to sand it & spray some new paint over it, no heavy rust but it did just not look nice.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Since Summer is over here and its about to get cold in the "Black Forest" I drove my Chevy to work for few days, need to get the "summer-diesel" out so I can top off with "ubergangs-diesel" and about november they start to sell "winter-diesel" .. I really dont want to get a clogged filter and a...

    Correct shackles

quick answer from another german CUCV: Spannhülse when my M1009 is parked at work it is in line of sight, try stealing my shackles and you get a hit with the CAT crawler Loader or the 385C ...

    GM tailgate reproduction parts Beware

over here in germany people say: if you buy cheap, you buy twice. I found out thats true, the tools I buy are never the cheap ones...same goes for spare parts etc.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Useful or not, I like my CUCV topless...but since its a single-cab M1009 the hardtop is a real job to get on & off... I dont do that often..so most of the time I carry it with me Oh and I did some things today aswell: Repaired a broken brake Line, threw in a new master cylinder, completely...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I replaced my front calipers with some rebuild ones, also put on new rotors & wheel bearings, the rotors look rusty because someone had them in the basement for few years and never put them to use... those studs were really nasty to get out, almost broke my tool before they moved... but...

    1009 hot weather operation

I would not worry about that, since the most "cooling jobs" are done by the radiator there should be no problems... I never had any issues with overheating anything, I think an extra transmission radiator is just needed when you do hardcore towing..for which a m1009 is probably not the right...

Any restrictions on selling a m1009 to a guy up north in Canada?

should be possible, somehow my CUCV must have made it to Netherlands and then to Germany ...and I never had any paperwork issues... just like it was a normal delivery Truck for low taxes :D

Mower with a 6.2 Diesel? awesome,,but maybe a bit to oversized for average lawn :D ..and no, i dont have a mower deck under it, just a new transmission oilpan with bleeding screw ^^ and that Pickup looks kinda "fordish" ...and I miss the usual "brushguard" & signs, numbers etc. I dont think...

    M1009 Runs Cold

You can verify if your theromostat is working correctly even without a gauge: Start you CUCV when the engine is cold, then wait ~2 minutes and then put your hand on the big hose on the drivers side, it should be cold or atleast handwarm (depends on outside temp.) then put your hand on the water...

    Cucv Hard Start

Im 90% sure its a dead battery / bad connection, if your Batteries are 100% good it could be a messy connection point right under that small plastic cover behind the batteries where all the thick cables head to. I once had exactly those symptoms on a 87' BMW e30 , if started cold it was like...

Well, I am used to tow out 40Ton Trucks a few times a day (if its rainy or muddy) with a 40Ton Wheel-Loader. You definetely dont want to be near the Cable when it breaks, dunno how hard it hits on a 3ton Truck but on those big toys a snatching cable can cut you in half, if you got bad luck. I...

    Relays next to Starter Relay

Hey Steelsoldiers, does anyone know what the 2 smaller black relays next to the starter relay are for? couldnt find anything on the web and I´m just curious. Thanks

I made a cover for my Doghead relay mod.

Thats one nice solution . I covered mine with tape & a plastic mug which I cut a bit shorter & made room for the cables :D

Now that I have a new Controller Card & a new GP Relay I can say that my "doghead" mod works great ! Truck starts perfectly and I hope it will do so for a long time now :)

    M1009 No start/crank

cleaned all cable connections again, put the 2 fresh loaded batteries, a new GP-Relay and the new Controller Card into it. Fine glow, no chattering relays. Light went out and i turned the key into start: And sudenly there was the long missed "rattle rattle rattle" from the 6.2 Diesel Engine :)...
