My fuel gauge has been acting up and it was traced back to a bad sending unit. During the diagnostics I noticed that my gauge was cracked. The crack was in the plastic case right behind the bezel ring. The crack extended half way around the gauge and was open at least 1/16". I ordered a used...
Well, they were WRONG on the tank being stainless. It's definitely aluminum. That said, I have no clue what this trailer is! Per the tag it is a ALWT-400G and was built in 1966. Visual differences from the 149's are as follows: Tank lid is in front, the aluminum tank is not baffled, the...
Why??? Empty weight of the trailer is 3,000 lbs and 400 gallons of water is another 3,300 lbs. 6,500 lbs is well within the towing capacity of a 1/2 ton pickup. Now, I wouldn't want to pull one that's 1/2 full because of the slosh, but dynamic loading doesn't factor into towing capacity.
Going to go and look at a M149A2 this weekend. Photos are not very good, but it looks to be complete. Seller says it's not road worthy because it's been sitting in the woods for some time. Tires are bad and the lights don't work are the two issues he mentioned. To that effect, what is the...
There is a guy on Ebay right now that is selling some MEP-831a parts. I've contacted him and he's been very helpful and friendly. Gave me a quote for a few parts and they should be here in a few days. I know from talking to the guy that he has several parts units so I'd suggest trying to...
I have a suggestion for you, but it's a bit radical. I finally gave up on my shut down problem and adjusted the magnet. What I found was that my magnet wasn't tight. I'm not sure if the guy who was trying to wreck my unit loosened the magnet or it was loose from the factory, but it certainly...
Hauled the generator back up north this weekend. Went to fire it up and got the overload light came on right away. It wasn't raining out, but it was a cool damp foggy morning. Suspecting moisture was the culprit, I opened the inverter cover and then fired up the generator. It was cool out so...
Got home last night and it wouldn't act up. Everything was normal. I got talking with somebody and he reported as having seen the same problem. He actually has seen it several times and attributed the issue to moisture in the inverter. He found that by unplugging the 6 prong plug at the...
Ok, flipping the battle short must be a sequence critical because I tried flipping it before and it made no difference, but I thought that it wasn't effective on overloads. I'll try it again tonight.
I have a MEP-831a that I bought with 41 hours on it. It currently has 49 hours. We were using the generator and it was working fine with no issues. The next day we went to restart the unit and now we have a problem. The unit restarts and comes up to speed normally. The voltage gauge will...
I was load testing my unit last night and didn't notice the Mrs had plugged all 3,000 watts into one leg. After a short run of a couple of minutes the generator dropped the load and a red overload light illuminated on the panel. Apparently the unit will handle a significant imbalance; but only...
I suspect it's a stability issue. It helps to have a second person to help with the adjustment procedure. Have a pen and pad of paper handy. After making adjustments, go back over the numbers again because subsequent adjustments will throw the initial values off. Be careful to not skip any...
I couldn't see any threads. Right now I adjusted the rod so it was slightly longer. If I raised the spherical nut, then wouldn't I need to readjust the rod length by the same amount? Seems like it's not really changing anything.
Thanks! It was a fun little project. If I were to do it again, I'd set the tires outside of the unit. We started with this design but changed it when we realized the trailer would be wider than the atv. Not the best for running through the woods. What we didn't realize was that the fuel...
