So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Valve guides can go away and put a divot in the liner, but, it isn't in the ring travel and can be run safely. If this is your issue, and you aren't working the snot out of it/running it hard daily, I can be repaired with just a head repair. I did a hay squeezer once or twice that had a wallowed...

    Huey, UH1M

We were/are planning a trip....but I told you about that. I'll keep you up to speed. Yeah, it is fun to put hands on things other than the "normal" thing. This is way cool to see how it is made. VERY lightweight, nothing that I am used to. I could do aircraft! Jacobs' job MUST be...

    Artisan's M916

And, CCC, (Crane Carrier Corp), is now Battle Motors. You MIGHT be able to go to their website and put your VIN in and get a P/N or give them a call and get help. https://battlemotors.com/pages/parts-service Another place we used to get parts from when re powering CCC things...

    Huey, UH1M

Worked on the tail rotor today. WOW, that thing is big too! Close to 10 feet span, not real heavy either. Surprisingly, things came apart quickly and easily. The nut, bearing, dust cover, splined drive thingie, tail rotor nut and the rotor assembly all left their spot with no effort. The...

I bet those isolate vibration well! Let me do some looking. I think I have a catalog with isolators...

    Huey, UH1M

It's an oldie, I think early 60's. Might have started life as a C model. It has a small cargo area, small doors. I'll see if I can find some tags today. Remember I stated that this sustained some airframe damage and was repaired, a couple of times? One of the damage incidents was that the tail...

    Huey, UH1M

And here is a few pics of the 40mm cannon mount cleaned up a bit. It is a dual axis, electrically fired device. We plan to mock up a bbl and put it in. I might be able to fill the chute with some fake rounds too. Gotta go see if I can locate some once fired stuff!

    Huey, UH1M

After getting things cleaned up, it was time to try and finger out why the rotors wouldn't turn, they USED to. After a bit of wiggling/moving the main rotor around and watching, I saw what one of the couplers for the tail rotor was loose and would bind up when things were turned. I found the 4...

    Huey, UH1M

Did a bit more work on the UH1 today. The goal was to try and find out why the main rotor wouldn't turn. First thing to do was to get access to things. The cowls needed to open. A couple of the latches are corroded beyond belief! They are literally just blooming aluminum. I got both of the cowls...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Check stuff in the overhead before you condemning it to overhaul. Valve seats liked to go away. They are also a flat tappet engine. The head of the tappet and cam lobe likes to go away causing the valve to not open. Or, you COULD have a tight valve

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Just remember the engine in yours has a thin deck block and even in stock configuration in a high cyclic Duty application, trash trucks, the blocks liked to crack.

    HMMWV Question....

I am no HMMWV expert, but, there is no air on one, AFAIK. Most likely something for fording, so water doesn't get into the diffs, axles, trans, t-case, etc. Probably goes into the intake snorkel somewhere. Just a guess

    Not Really a CCKW.......

A couple pictures of the "shop" area of the truck.

    Not Really a CCKW.......

These next images are not for the faint of heart! I have to say, I do not know how this EVER ran and drove! This is by far, the nastiest carburetor I have ever seen, even more so than the Stromberg NAR9G that I did for the M7 Priest radial engine! Things were difficult to remove, STILL can't...

    Not Really a CCKW.......

As I stated before, I thought I started this a short time ago, but time flies! After reading the log, it was a year and I noted some issues. Brakes....go figure... Hard to start, no spark, but then it fixed itself, and idled ok but no accelerator pump action. I drug tools, remote fuel, battery...

    Not Really a CCKW.......

Onto the "not Really a CCKW. If you notice, it the above picture, there is a giant hole in the area in front of the ambulances. That is where this sat. I haven't found the s/n yet, but going by the OEM number in the carburetor ID tag, this seems to be a 1939-1941 GMC, AFKX 352 Light Ordinance...

    Not Really a CCKW.......

After the WC9 came back from The Regan Library, we decided to do some work to it that it has needed for a bit. The radiator had a leak, the water pump bearing was shot and, since it was apart, replacement of the water distribution tube was in order. We got all that done and when it was attempted...

    Huey, UH1M

A couple of pics from today. One of the volunteers started on the paint prep for the Huey. He sanded and got one primed with an aluminum self etching primer. He worked on the Synchronized Stabilizers only. The right one is heavily corroded, looks to have been hit at some point in it's life due...
