Another confusing thing is that all of the older MV air shutoff valves are opposite of the civi valves in that off position is with the handle in line with the piping. I have found some of the 939 series valves are the same as the civi valves where off position is with the handle at a 90° angle...
Ah yes, reminds me of the old hay baler mechanic they used to call "sledge hammer "Bartels. Sometimes a tap here and there is just the answer. Cheap too!!
Search here for info on repairs. The box has to be cut open and on most of mine the only things needed replaced were the two Ford style starter relays or soleniods. Some of the (newer, I think) boxes are made different inside. Also some boxes will interchange with the 800 series trucks,others...
That is the protective control box alright. Did you turn the power switch on then rap on the box yet. You don't have to hit it hard enough to bend it but not just a light tap either. The solenoids in this sealed box get corroded and don't make good contact. Low voltage is also hard on solenoids...
Rap the protective control box on the outside of the firewall with a softblow hammer. That should give you power. The solenoids inside don't always make contact. Replace it, repair it or go cheap and carry that softblow hammer or a 2' piece of 2x4 with you.
I put new batteries in my trailer (the originals would start it on a warm day unbelievably so) and did some thinking. Since the motor only has one speed(2500rpm??), I see why they engineered it to start only after the oil pressure is up. This way the motor has good oil pressure and doesn't have...
The people that don't recognize anything other than a 17 digit Vin are for one thing young,2nd uninformed. I had a truck licensed and registered that was so old it had a 4 digit Vin. Here the people dealing with Vin numbers enter them into their computer, the program comes back with something...
Reminds me of when the Army National Guard used to drive the trucks thru flooded river water. Do you realize the time and money spent to clean up and change all the oil in them to make sure they are mission ready again.
I believe he is saying the brake shoes freeze to the drums. Its a common problem with over the road trucks running thru snow and slush in the winter. The brakes are warm when being used but overnight they cool off and the wet shoes and drums freeze together. They always say to not set the...
Something for others to keep I n mind for the future.....if you are thinking about towing one with a tow dolly or rental trailer.... measure the front wheel width before you call for a rental estimate....some dolly's and trailers are too narrow for some 4x4s.
