    Drilling the manifold

Is there something I should know before I drill the hole for the egt thermocouple? I think I've read every post here but small things worry me. I know the engine should be running, is idle ok or up the rpm? My thermocouple is a 1/4". Does it really matter or should I wait and get a 1/8"...

    EGT Thermocouple Size

Therein lies the problem, I had no idea there were options. Reading through a few of the hundreds of posts about installing egt gauges I never got to one that would lead me to believe there was a preference or choice. I assumed (yes, I know) that it was a matter of "buy gauge, install". Thank...

    EGT Thermocouple Size

I have searched but not finding what I want. Can someone tell me what is the correct size for the thermocouple? I just received my gauge, etc from Hewitt and they sent a straight "K", 1/4" 2-3" exha. Perhaps I'm over thinking this and it's why I can't readily find the answer but for one it...

M151 Mutt heater in a Deuce

Another week and still not completed. I was out of town working a part-time gig Wed-Fri, the mechanic shop next door was going to loosen those **** engine coolant plugs so I could finish the plumbing but..... I hate to have to buy a torch setup just for this.

M151 Mutt heater in a Deuce

Maybe I should have tried getting those engine coolant plugs out before I spent all of yesterday installing the heater. Got all the fittings and valves for plumbing it this morning but couldn't budge them. Every configuration of wrench and socket I had just slid right off. Do you think anybody...

M151 Mutt heater in a Deuce

I wish you would've gotten that installed sooner!! I'm not a fabricator, just don't have the "vision" of the finished product but I got it in.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Didn't get to work on "Jules" this week as much as I like but got a few things accomplished 1)Insulated the driver side firewall, waiting to finish heater installation to do psgr side 2)Installed new rubber headlight fasteners 3)Got the remote brake reservoir mounted but waiting on ordered...

M151 Mutt heater in a Deuce

I finally gave it a shot and got it installed. Ran out of daylight so I haven’t plumbed it to the hot water yet or decided how I’ll run the electrics. I didn’t use the diverter as I was getting frustrated looking for the correct ducts and reducers needed to make it work. Right now all I have is...

Hard starting on this cold 60 deg day

I put two new 31 series batteries in (31p30 I think) and no more problems, ordered them on line to pick up at AA. With discount code trt30 I saved about $84 (had to order each one separately in order to save the most) Conclusion; get rid of those "Barbie" batteries and install the proper...

M35A2 low power, white smoke & rough idle

Is there something specific that causes these gaskets to fail often and/or is it something that can be prevented to some extent? (I'm a gas engine guy so maybe it's a diesel thing) Seems like I see or have seen a lot of posts about failed head gaskets, could be only because people never post...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

That's a refreshing look; build a better Deuce, a "bionic" Deuce, "Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster." Now, if I only knew more about diesel engines I could help you in your quest, I guess I'll just have to be content with following along.

Hard starting on this cold 60 deg day

Yeah, so I charged the battery overnight and when I went to start it this morning it took a while but finally started. I let the in-tank pump run a bit hoping that would do it but no luck. After work I guess I'll start checking for water or trash in the system.

I thought about that too but hoping I was mistaken.

    2 battery system question

I have no 12v items in the truck. I'm not too sure it's even taking a charge but it's only been an hour or two, I don't know I'll be able to trust it even if it does. I'll probably just go buy two correct size batteries like it's suppose to have and be done with it but I don't want to do that...

Hard starting on this cold 60 deg day

Was out of town for the weekend so I thought I'd give it a try a little while ago and it's even cooler today. Decided I would let the tank pump run a little bit longer (something I failed to do last time) but when I turned the switch, nothing.....I had one dead battery (but that's a different...

    2 battery system question

I'm not familiar with the 2 battery setup and/or a generator and I realize it's not some magical or complicated thing, but can something in the system drain one battery and not the other? I ask because I have one new battery (both are interstate blem's and relatively new) that lost all charge...

    Traded M1009 for this Deuce

When I got mine home and got to working on it every leaky point I found was due to loose bolts; differentials, oil pan, oil & fuel filters, air lines (very minor but aggravating). Most every nut and bolt I put a wrench to was loose, the turbo oil return line had a bolt so loose I could see thread.

    Heater Diverter Difference

Until you posted this I had no idea the installation would be in the TM's. I assumed (yes I know and it happened in this instance) they were for maintenance, repairs and owner handbook type of reading. For whatever reason it's just so hard for me to read those things on computer without flipping...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I use the pan filters to pre-filter the wmo as they are easy to clean. The setup holds probably 2 gal at a time so it doesn't take that long. I fill them up, walk away, fill it up again and walk away. Then I can I run it through the sock filters. I think the sock filter has more surface area and...

    Gap between window and cab

Well I'll be doggone, you are exactly right. I've been wondering about that top, thought it odd it was shaped that way but just decided it's suppose to be bent like that. Now I'm really disappointed because it'll be next week before I can "play" with my toy.
