    Battery Advice for m934

There is a post on that topic about halfway down the 5 ton page... Please make sure you do a search in the future, as most questions have already been answered for you over the years. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=420870&d=1340244104

M925A2 Trailer Made From M923A1 Truck

That's pretty sweet dude 8-) I didn't see an air line going to the "trailer." Did you guys just cage the brakes?

    Ether Start Assist

Even when everything is functioning properly, I have heard comments on here saying that the NHC250 does not enjoy starting when it is cold out. But I agree with what 162 and juan said.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sweet. Should definitely be nicer to drive now during our wonderful Illinois Winters ;)

    diesel fuel additive

I'm going to go ahead and try the Opti-Lube. My 5 ton has been starting fine thus far, even down to 10 or 15 degrees, but it wouldn't hurt to start adding some to the tank. I took a look at the link that was posted.. Seems like good stuff. Can you buy it in any of the parts stores, or is it an...

Are exhaust stacks illegal on a pickup truck?

Interesting. I don't believe they require mudflaps on pickups here in Illinois. Or if they do, the police do not enforce it, because I have never known anyone (or heard of anyone) who was pulled over for that. My only issue with his setup is the lack of some kind of guard or shield covering...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Ok. I'll give that a try next time I run it.

Are exhaust stacks illegal on a pickup truck?

I don't get why people have such a problem with them.. They're just pieces of exhaust pipe. Would I ever put them on a pickup that I owned? No. But automatically calling someones truck or the person driving it a piece of sh!t because you don't share their interests is unacceptable.

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

Yeah.. Yet I guarantee THEY are the one's that will be b!tching when the price of their groceries, etc., go up because trucking companies have to pay to replace every one of their engines. And from what I have heard the emissions stuff they throw on diesels has a negative effect on fuel mileage...

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

It actually says vehicles OVER 14,000 are exempt, so all semi's, large box trucks, etc. do not have to meet the smog law. Like I said, it seems like the smog law there is mostly aimed at diesel cars and trucks driven by the average joe. EDIT: I just took a look at the site that you linked to...

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

From what I just read online, Californias diesel smog laws do not apply to vehicles built before 1998. It also states that vehicles with a GVWR over 14,000lbs are exempt. http://www.smogtips.com/diesel-smog-test.cfm So it does not sound like deuces or 5 tons are part of the smog law. It seems...

Are exhaust stacks illegal on a pickup truck?

Nothing wrong with people doing stacks on pickups, as long as they are done "tastefully." However, I can't stand the previously mentioned idiots who add smoke kits to their trucks, or run them so rich that they belch black smoke every time they accelerate. Check your local laws regarding this...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Replaced my PPV. I'll see how that works out. Now my next air related problem to deal with is the CTIS.. I have the "4 flashing lights syndrome" now that it is really cold out. After searching through the forum it seems to be a pretty common issue. All of the tires are holding air, and there...

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

For what it's worth, they wanted the actual weight of my truck here in Illinois when I registered it. Same thing when I had it insured. However, I am sure they would have proceeded differently if I intended to use the truck for commercial purposes. I mean.. My A2 tractor is rated to pull...

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

Add that to the list of reasons why no one should live in California. Every time I think we have it bad here in Illinois, someone brings up something that is going on in California

    Hard Copy Manuals

Yeah it was pretty cool to find that :naner: And it was a somewhat "recent" version from 1999. Not sure what the latest version is, but that's good enough.

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

I thought all diesels made before 1993 were exempt from emissions laws? Or maybe that's just in my state.. There are plenty of guys here from Cali, and I have not heard anything about them having to replace their engines.

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

^^^ What he said. Just make sure there are no restrictions regarding parking large vehicles at home, if you decide to keep it there. From some posts I have seen on here, certain areas consider these trucks to be commercial vehicles due to the weight, even though you are probably only going to...
