I've read through this entire thread with interest. What you said makes sense. I imagine the single line coming from the master to a tee then each line off the tee goes to its own air pack then each air pack goes to front and rear brakes. Question is has anyone tried this approach? I saw where...
No cap and it must have regular nuts on the other side of the bolt because they wouldn't come out, just spin. Working with the older muscle cars they used speed nuts so the military must had their reasons for not using them. Either way, I pulled this out from under the dash
Its missing the...
I think you're right. Was just looking at big mikes website and saw a clear version that looked the same. I bet the other piece is the pump and missing the handle. I'll check it out closer tomorrow. Thanks!
Yes its inside the cab, passenger side, below the glove box. Has a vacuum line coming out of it. Not sure what it is that it connects to but the thing it connects to is not currently connected to anything else. Should have gotten a pic of that.
Big Mikes has the hose for $48 guess thats not too hateful. I unscrewed it and wrapped some teflon on the fitting and tightened it up. Once I finish reinstalling the air pack and master cylinder I'll fire it up and see if it still leaks. Got the master rebuild kit today so I'll put it back...
Today some light work. Drained the air tanks, just a small amount of water out of the inboard tank. Reattached 2 air lines to the body under the hood that were left hanging. Checked the air filter, looks ok. Tightened the air fittings to the transfer case switch. Soaked all the brake line...
I was able to finish rebuilding the air pack last night. The kit I got was from C and C Equipment in Nashville IN. No major issues, everything looked pretty good except the air can was full of brake fluid. The gasket for the back of the air can ended up tearing due to being too small so I reused...
Theres a piece of a tag there that said "manufac" and cut off. Maybe a rebuild? I'm guessing the military didn't wrap the flare fittings with teflon so anything is possible.
Guess I should add that the fluid that came out was almost green tinted. Not really amber like old dot 5. Can anyone give me a ballpark brake fluid capacity for a complete flush or fill?
Pulled out the air pack today, took all of 25 minutes. Nice easy work considering the age of the truck. I did find out that the engine was overhauled in 1989, there was a tag on the side of the block and the valvetrain looks clean. No idea how many miles were put on it afterwards. All of the...
Today I changed the oil and filters, not too hateful at all. Didn't spill any oil at the filters. Also found where I was leaking air under the dash. Its the hose connected to the transfer case switch.
Its leaking between the two hex fittings at the point where I drew the circle. The hose seems...
Looking on maps looks like a house with a barn. Called 3 times sent 1 email nothing. Guess I'll call my credit card company and make sure they block payment. Ridiculous
I saw the 513 area code thats my area code. Cant be too far for me to pick up. Not having much luck with the brake parts. That seco company refuses to send me a return label for their old parts to return. I aint paying 25 bucks to ship back parts that they misrepresented. I found an air pack...
Anyone ever purchased parts from realcustomtrucks.com? I ordered some brake parts 9 days ago and haven't received them and when I go to their website it just says processing. Called Saturday and the guy said he would call me back, he didn't and now not answering his phone.
Question about the air system: when I shut the truck down I can hear air hissing under the dash. After a while it sounds like a valve closes then the hissing stops. Is this normal or do I need to look for the leak? I'm thinking its related to the low pressure buzzer.
Also, what tire pressures...
I think the turret hole is bad asx. But the rain doesn't. There is a lot of black silicone around it which makes me think someone had an idea. I think I'd like to keep it. As you said it sets it apart and I like to allow the bad asxery to continue to live on. In the meantime a tarp and a piece...
