One thing I will need to do is invest in some specialty tools. I have a mountain of standard automotive tools due to collecting and restoring many cars over the years. Any suggestions on what to add to work on the deuce?
Thanks! I did not know that. The brakes almost feel like they are out of adjustment but I was assured they worked before it was parked. Either way, I will replace all the rubber and keep the old rubber for "just in case" scenarios. I'll also pull the wheels and hubs, repack bearings, replace the...
Hello all, today I received, CT Blacks Trucking out of Minnesota, my first deuce which came with a matching trailer. Highly recommend CT Blacks, Cory was great to work with and guided me right off the trailer. I used a hand winch to get the M105A2 off first with Cory balancing the trailer to...
Well we got it off the step deck no problem. Used a hand winch to get the trailer off first then I just backed it off in low reverse. Piece of cake for my first time ever driving a deuce. Got the vin inspection and a temp tag and brought it home. I'm going to start a new thread where I will dive...
So have the deuce in low first, have my silverado chained to the trailer, and use the clutch as a brake against the engine? And the chains from the deuce to the trailer would force the trailer to stay straight? My concern would be the chains snapping if the trailer wants to wander to one side.
Anyone have any tips for me for unloading the deuce, with little or no brakes, with the m105 trailer attached, off of a step deck trailer? I've heard the m105 is a lot of fun backing up....
Thank you sir for the positive vibes! I try to gauge my projects and stay prepared. My eval along with the wonderful knowledge base here have led me to these conclusions. I am ready to get started!
I didnt purchase the first one which was a basket case. The one being shipped to me is in much better shape, lower miles, started right up after 6 years and has mostly newer tires on it. Should be a much better truck.
Booked for pick up on Monday hoping it gets here soon. I plan to go through the entire brake system and fuel system. Ordered new rubber brake lines and fuel pump and remote reservoir. Need to get either new wheel cylinders or rebuild kits. Probably both just to have on hand.
I have read in reviews that the wilwood reservoirs do not have the correct rubber seal cup between the cap and reservoir and it vents to atmosphere. Has anyone else had this experience?
So I will start another thread when it gets here and I start wrenching but....I picked up a much nicer model in desert tan with a trailer and many extra parts from another member on here. Now just waiting on the transport to pick it up and bring it here since it needs brake work and a fuel pump...
Yeah thats hard to beat. They have heavier amp versions too that are pretty cheap. So do you think going from 1/4" to 3/8" fittings would make a difference? I saw one post where it was speculated that the hydraulic head could overheat if not enough flow. Just curious
Good to know, thank you. I read your post about the weird fuel pressure and thats when I started looking at pumps. Also wrote down your setup for filters. Good info!
I've been following this thread with interest as I may be making a purchase this weekend. I found a carter pump part #P4603HD. It is 24 volt, 43gph at 6psi and only about $60 from summit. May be a good pump for this application. Rotary vane pump as well.
I looked through several pages of the ohio revised code but couldn't see anything specific to military vehicles. I did see something about the humvees but nothing on deuces.
