    Looking for a driveshaft M1008

If you have the old one, just find a good driveshaft shop to re-tube the old one. Probably cost you about $150 or so. Depends on how much your time is worth digging around junkyards. Later, Joe

    Solargizer

I once ran my 1009 with its overhead strobes and flashers on for 3.5 hours with the engine off as a display for the Disabled American Veteran's neighborhood BBQ. The Solargizer kept the battery up and it wasn't even slow in turning over at the end. Later, Joe

    Slavin a CUCV

No, it only gets hot under load from the glow plugs when they are activated. If the truck sits for a long time, dust gets down on it and can burn off, causing funny smells and smoke until it's cleaned off. And in case that was clear as mud, it gets the same temp whether slaving or normal...

    Voltmeter repair

Well, I shorted out my 1008's VM to one of the heater control screws while working in the dash and now it doesn't work. I replaced the fried 28V fuse and the VM worked for a few minutes, then quit. I checked the plug with a multimeter and it had good voltage so I checked the terminals on the...

    Solargizer

I mounted mine where the military had already drilled holes for the solargizer they removed. It is on the passenger's side, up by the windshield on the hood. Wires run down through the hood so there's minimal chance they will get caught on anything. Later, Joe

    Slavin a CUCV

If the resistor itself was smoking, it might have just been heating up any contaminants that were on it. Did it stop smoking and function normally, or is it smoking each time you try to start the truck? Does it smell like a burnt electrical smell or oily or... Later, Joe

    Battery Booster Resistor Needed

For now you can make a jumper wire from the glow plug relay to the diamond shaped 12V terminal block above the master cylinder. That will let you use the truck until you can get a new resistor. And it's not a battery booster resistor (even if the manual says that) it is the 24V-12V step down...

    MEP-006A 60 KW Gen. trouble!!!!!!!

I doubt that you can adjust the frequency with the rheostat. If you can, that's not a MEP-006A, it's a MEP-006B with a governor control and is MUCH more desirable than an A model which you have to adjust for load changes with the hand throttle. Later, Joe

    Slavin a CUCV

Not normally... Have you started the truck before? Has it been sitting for a long time? More details please. Later, Joe

    Revamped M1031

Hey TVGuy, if you pull the bed off of your truck I'm looking for some 1031 governor parts. PM me if your box is the later one with the PTO generator. Later, Joe

    MEP-006A 60 KW Gen. trouble!!!!!!!

Yea, put some load on it and see if the voltage settles down. I've had 6's run with less than 10% load and not fluctuate though. My guess would be that the voltage regulator is getting flaky and may be on the way out. You could also try moving the control a little up or down because the...

    New Resto of my M1008

Could you get a close up picture of the Navy brass dataplate on the door? Later, Joe

    Tire stuck

There are only two snap rings that hold the hub in. The one on the axleshaft and the one in the hub. Once those are out, the hub body should slide out with minimal effort. Later, Joe

    New Resto of my M1008

What spacer set are you running on those HMMWV wheels? Nice looking truck. Hope mine looks at least as nice when I'm done... Later, Joe

    N Arizona M1028 Build Thread

The motor mounts are not standard 6.2 motor mounts. I think the correct ones are for a 350 IIRC. I would take your old ones with you to NAPA and have them pull all the different options and match them up. Also remember that these trucks are 'frozen in time' at 1984 so even if the truck is an 85...

Anyone near FT. Carson CO? (colorado springs)

Ft Carson WILL NOT negotiate about pickup days. At least, that's been my experience with them. I can pick it up for you. PM me with contact info and we'll :grd:. BTW, Friday is the 16th and I'm guessing you mean a M105A2 :D Later, Joe

My CUCV is running just fine thank you!

I have put 13k miles on my 1009 since I finished building it. Short history, I bought a 1009 missing the powertrain from Ebay and pair of residue 1009s from Ft Carson GL. Made one truck out of the three. I finished the truck in late June of last year and have done no major maintenance to it...

    CUCV Switches, Diodes, Relays

The ground in pic 10 can also be up on the side of the dash bolted in the small hole that is above the large hole to the left of his ground location. Three of my 1009s and my 1008 are wired that way. Just look for that 6 prong ground 'comb' and you'll find it. BTW, if you have weird dash...

    Tire stuck

The snap ring that holds the whole lockout guts needs to be removed next. The yellow circles are the ends of that ring. What you need to do is take a small screwdriver or dental pick and lift it up out of the groove in the outer hub. Then pull it out of the hub. The hub body then needs to be...
