Sad Days, Hats off, Beers up!

Thanks for the well wishing! Yea I'm Okay and that is the most important part. People can say what they want about all the new airbags and safety features but a real metal truck gives you an incredible safety feature all its own! Killed a minivan and two telephone poles and walked away with a...

Sad Days, Hats off, Beers up!

Well after my beautiful M1009 was recently repaired, bad motor mounts and lift pump, it was attacked by a minivan! I mean just got it running again and was only on the road for three days when a mini van decided to cross the double yellow line on a straight road. I swerved right and she struck...

M1009 was running fine; suddently shut off; No start

Problem Solved: Well it turned out to be the lift pump. The motor mounts were wore out putting pressure on the lift pump which caused it to fail. SO new motor mounts and a new lift pump and vroom fired right up.

Thank for the help. I pulled the top of the IP off today. Checked the solenoid and it operated properly. Checked the reading on the pink wire and it was around 11. Got it to start twice, ran for around 5 seconds, and died. Still at a lose. Unfortunately I had to take it to the shop. aua I...

    More charging whoas

Had a minute to check a few tings today. There is power at the 10 amp fuse. As posted before there was no power on the wires feeding the pcb. Started to change out the fusible links but NAPA was out of the 12 gauge so I had to order it which stopped me from changing out the Fusible links today...

    More charging whoas

OK i will check the voltage at the 10amp fuse you mentioned, but I have already checked everything at the pcb. there is no voltage coming into it at the Orange and black wires, #6 & #7, on the wire plug that feeds power to the pcb. so that is were I am at and trying to figure out. I will admit...

    More charging whoas

More charging woes So I have been fighting this for some time. been through re manufactured alternators, rebuilt alternators, new batteries, new bulbs, new wires, and so on. So it appears that the 24 volt battery, rear battery, is not getting charged properly. So just like everyone else I'm...

Lost electrical power - Follow up

Yea, I'm sorry about that. I did get her fixed and should of posted an update. I promise to be better next time. Here is what I found and this was by pure accident. The small block, 12 volt diamond, on the fire wall that is located at the glow plug solenoid had a wire that had separated...

Lost electrical power - Follow up

Batteries are good. Cables are a few years old not the originals. Ignition switch was changed out APPROX 4 years ago. Battery cables are not bolt on ones.

Lost electrical power - Follow up

I was driving to my dad's in my 1984 M1009, original electrical system, and the radio began cutting out, loss of power, then cut back on. Then the low coolant light began to flicker on then off. Next the Gen 1 light would come on for a second and then go off. The Gen 1 light only did this twice...

    Batteries draining randomly

Thanks. I know I have had the alternator problem in the past. I just hate thinking one could be bad after a year or two. I did have to replace a battery, rear one, once when this happened because it reversed polarity. Since the problem has happened a few times over the years I was thinking that...

    Batteries draining randomly

Thanks for the good suggestion. That is an easy one to over look. I believe though that it is the back one draining. you can put a charger on the front battery over night and it still will not start. That is why I believe that it is the rear battery.

    Batteries draining randomly

1987 M1028 24 Volt Doghead relay fix Electrical is unmodified Both alternators and batteries replaced in the past two years. Only thing added was a radio that is wired to only come on when the truck is running. I.E. no power to it when the truck is off. Okay, Truck runs fine. When running shows...

    Another engine noise post

Yes unfortunately. I could not see the crack until we had it pulled and out of the way. My advice, ie what I learned, is to slide the transmission back and take a second look be fore you drop it if you are having a problem similar to this.

    Another engine noise post

FIXED!!!!!! Ok pulled transmission yesterday. Once we had it out of the way I found that the flex plate was cracked all the way around at the center bolts. Everything else appeared to be in good condition. Bought a new flex plate (O'reilly's PN FRA-142 $45.00). Some new blots, red loctite, and...
