    Estimated Cost of brakes

I did front flexible lines, ceramic pads, rotors, and calipers I want to say for somewhere right around $230-$250 from NAPA for both sides. The fluid to bleed the system after is another 37$ a quart from NAPA as well. I don't know what the hard line will run you, I'm pretty sure you have to...

    Cucv munitions question

What parts do you need to mount the rifles in the truck? I have the base the strap and what I assume is some type of barrel holder but for some reason I couldn't get my Colt A2 to really work. It would be nice to just use that to transport my AR's around to the range or on camping trips, keeps...

CUCV Fuel gauge issues and fixes

Mine does this, I pulled the gauge out to clean it a couple months ago and replace the bulbs behind it since they were burned out. I put it back in and the needle still sweeps just 1/2 tank is as high as it reads and it will go way further down past empty. It sounds like this is what yours...

    Coldest starting temp.

These trucks don't really get very warm in the really cold temperatures. Pretty much anything below 20 degrees and you will not be able to roast yourself out. Maybe a single cab but anything bigger than that and there's just too much space to heat and too little insulation to keep it in. When...

Mechanic blew up 4 starters in our M1009......

This is so very true of a lot of auto mechanics. I tried explaining this to my gf one day because her brother in-law is ASE certified blah blah and no offense to the guy but they just do not explain how things work in those programs apparently. I described him exactly as being a "parts...

    Coldest starting temp.

Wind chill has absolutely no effect on things that aren't living. Blow a fan on your coolant at -20 and the coolant will still be -20, it's your skins perception of how much colder it is when the heat generated by your body is being blown away from it. The coldest I've started mine was -25*F...

H6054 Halogen reflector to HID Projector Install-Pics

So a few weeks ago I ordered a complete plug and play HID kit and was actually very disappointed in the light output. People who have stock H.I.D. cars have always told me that they can see forever down the road and that the sides of the road are lit up so much better than regular halogens. I...

Any way to tighten M1009 mirror?

I wrapped mine with some rubber roofing tape. Super grippy stuff its like a 1/16" strip of rubber with adhesive on the back, they aren't going to be going anywhere anytime soon.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I installed and greased all new U-Joints on the 1009. Going to put in ratchet shifter very soon after the New Year.

Will an ATV fit inside an M1009 ?

I put my buddies Yamaha R6 in the back of mine with the top off, at an angle you probably won't get to put a quad. I take the top off my 1009 by myself all the time. Getting it back on takes another person, though if I really had to I guess I could probably get it back up on there. It's not...

    M1009 Front Windshield Defroster

They do make windshield covers that keep frost off of it. Popular up here, much more convenient than scraping ice just put it on at night take it off in the morning.

730 Mile trip prep. NC to MA

I just drove my 1009 from Anchorage to Fairbanks and back with some driving in FB came to 800+ miles over the weekend. I just made sure my fluids were all topped off and the thing performed just as I would expect any other rig to. It was -20 Fri morning and it gave a slow crank and fired right...

My 1990 GMC Suburban CUCV clone AKA: M1007 or M1029

I like your headlights, are they H.I.D. or just standard halogen? I got some Silverstars and want something brighter. How do they compare to sealed beam?

    CUCV Radiator recommendation

I have the same radiator but mine was a bit cheaper. Works well it is thicker than the original.

    glow plugs

That is great, but isn't a friend of your wife's husband your friend because you should be your wife's husband correct? Somehow I think something was mis-worded in there and threw me for a little loop haha.

    Need radiator advice. Replace/upgrade

I just replaced my radiator due to a gigantic hole, got the NAPA radiator 460$ list price and got it heavily discounted because I work for a state agency that has a large acct with them. Thing is wayy thicker than the stock one but it didn't hold no 25 quarts like it said, maybe 18. Glad you...

    Sun Visor Decals

Mine are in decent shape, I can try to take some good pictures of them and post them tomorrow for you so you can print them off if that would help.

    Acquired an M1009

Been a couple weeks. Not much new on the CUCV, just that I took the dash out to get the heater blower working. Cleaned the contacts on the switch and it fired right up. While I was in there I went ahead and got my voltage meter working as well just had to solder a broken lead together. I am...

    Acquired an M1009

So had a hole in my radiator about the size of my pinky I picked up from offroading last weekend. Went to Napa for the new one and it was listed at 469.99$. The guy said that's probably the most expensive radiator we sell, then he saw my work shirt (I work at the University of Alaska) and he...
