    M1009 roof rack

I like your design ideas. I eventually would like to incorporate more jerry can capacity and a swing-out rack. more or less a special forces type looking vehicle. I found another top from a '91 Blazer with sliding windows and I had the idea of installing a mg ring with a pintle to handle a .50...

    M1009 roof rack

I don't like your tone, so you can wait...;-) However, for the rest of you that are interested, I will be completing the ladder and the rest of the rack bits when the weather dries up. For now, it's a rack, it does rack stuff as a good rack should. I can climb all over my rig without one. But...

    anyone make the movies?

My M1009 was imported into the country by International Movie Services. I was told it was in a number of films, but I don't know which ones. It'd be nice to find out though.

On the trail in Kansas.... again....

Good idea. I'll do that next time I head down that way. I get a kick out of 'playing tourist' close to home.

On the trail in Kansas.... again....

Great pics! I sure like those old murals. There's a town on the island here called Chemainus which is world famous for murals, neat place to drive through. Beautiful dogs btw!

A few pics from lastnight's snow job

I got the roof rack off a free classifieds add. There's a thread on here that shows the before shot of my rack and then I welded, sanded and painted it into what I have now. I couldn't fab one for as cheap as I got this one and it's steel, which I prefer. Yeah, it was tons of fun. Fixing my...

A few pics from lastnight's snow job

We haven't had any snow either. This is at elevation, in a mountain range. Mild year for sure! Snow is even being trucked in from hundreds of miles away to olympic venues in Vancouver not too far from me.

A few pics from lastnight's snow job

With over one hundred cycles of shifting from forward to reverse with gains of about 4-6 ft. each time, that lil' 10 bolt had to give sometime. I didn't take any pics of the axle and universal, but I picked up the trail of bits I had left behind. It hadn't snowed in some time up there and the...

A few pics from lastnight's snow job

A couple friends and I planned to climb the 'Red Pillar' mountain in Strathcona Park, on Vancouver Island, B.C. lastnight. Plan was to drive into the park to the lakehead at Deep Lake then canoe to the trailhead(more like a route) then climb The Red Pillar. Well, the snow proved too deep and we...

    M1009 roof rack

I'm fabbin a ladder from aluminum that'll fold up when not in use. Right now, I have one of those nifty tire steps that fold up as well. Works great for the rack plus working under the hood.

    M1009 roof rack

Yes it is. A diesel can to be more accuate. Unlikely it'll go boom, especially when empty. I fill it when offroad for long trips, other than that, it remains empty. Plus, I don't scare easily.

    M-1009 Ice racing

You kept it rubber side down, that's good:-P Looks cold though. Are studded tires used? Doesn't seem so.

    Why Lift

Haha! nice! I can see this question being asked I guess because of your geography. Having never been to Texas, I'm sure it's pretty flat for the most part and not alot of mud? Here in B.C, 99% of the province is mountains and the terrain can be very challenging technically. I have a two inch...

Heater gone -5 degrees CODE RED!!

I've gone through this with a couple Chev's including my M1009 just two weeks ago. The bearing in my blower motor was going and it had put a strain on the fan switch and the power wire going to it. It finally fried the wire going to the switch. Sometimes the the switch itself will overheat too...
