    M1009 roof rack

This is the rack you need then. You can have a soft top or no top. You may need to make some modifications to the soft-top attachments but that's about all. That would look sweet set up like that.

    M1009 roof rack

I started on restoring the rack today, did some sanding and wire-wheeling with the grinder. Tomorrow, I'm going to finish that and do a little welding for the new CB antenna mount and the front basket. I'm extending the rack about 24' over the cab and the installing lights and a remote Golite...

    M1009 roof rack

Ok, had to take a pic... Picked this rack up today for next to nothing. All steel, expanded metal basket floor, built like a masonary outhouse. It's resting on my 'custom' 2 x 4" spruce mounts for now until I fab up some sill plate mounts for between the top and the box.

    Camo Paint on M1008

Any CUCV parts supply in Canada???

I'm looking for some CUCV bits and 9/10 times I can't get someone to ship from south of the border. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a parts supply in Canada? Anywhere? I'm located on Vancouver Island, about as far west as you can get without getting wet. I'm searching for a good grill guard...

    HD Rear U-joints

Good point made about a 'predictable weak link'. Easier to fix in the field than a twisted yoke or worse. I've always used the Spicer units myself, having moderate success until I realized I had driveshaft length issues (yeah, I've left myself wide open with that comment...) Turned out my...

    4 wheel steering on a 5 ton???

True about the 'not being legal' part, no mechanical link, but for off-highway use it could be fine.

    4 wheel steering on a 5 ton???

That was my next step, to check the monster truckers tech on how the run their rear-steer. Now this was the other idea. Having dual cylinders, front and rear, which operate in tandem or independently of each other. The idea is to, providing the wheel base is correct, to have a 0 degree turning...

    4 wheel steering on a 5 ton???

I was thinking the whole hydraulic system would have to be upgraded to make the set-up work forsure. I like the idea of having a knuckle-boom as well so I would need to install a system that could handle it all.

    4 wheel steering on a 5 ton???

I went and had a look at two M812A1's the other day and between the two, one could build a nice truck. Anyway, considering that one would have access to two front ends, I thought four wheel steering would be an interesting adaptation to a bobbed 5 ton, 16.00 x 20R's etc... Has anyone here done...

    Fuel Block

I've been running the Racor water separator unit with a priming head. I believe it's the 2 micron, R45S is the part# Nice way to see whats going on with your fuel visually and drain any water, if any. Just another option for ya.;-)

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

Man, hat's off to you my friend. That is an impressive job so far! Can't wait to see more progress pics! I never really had an appreciation of how massive these truck are until I got to check out CONDEC's M123. Sitting in the cab of his truck sure planted a seed for big MV's. Good Job!:-D

Starter Problems. Not so happy holidays so far :(

I have been warned about using anything but the GM starter bolts. Grade 8 hardened bolts may not break before your block does. Just a heads up.... This thread couldn't have been more timely. I'm having similar issues now on start-up, starter doesn't seen to be engaging fully but only when the...

Brake light below fuel guage says I have a problem....

Just a head's up, When I had that problem, the fluid level was good. Try not to assume that everything will be fine once you top your levels up if yours is down. Time to do a full check it seems. Good luck:wink:

Brake light below fuel guage says I have a problem....

I had the same issue. I ended up bleeding all the brakes and replacing my fluid with silicone fluid with a machine, this way I could do a leak-down test and check for pressure. My braking system ended up having excellent pressure (around 23 psi.) and the old fluid was contaminated with moisture...

    What is a CDR valve?

Has anyone had oil coming from their rear main seal as a result of a bad CDR valve? Could this be a symtom? Crank case pressure building up causing oil to push past the seal? From what I've read, it could be the case. Regardless, a bad CDR or seal or both, I'm on the hunt for a few CDR's now...

what size tires and what brand do you guys run

I have to say BFG All-Terrains too. I run 33 x 12.5r x 15's. On my second set now and I do alot of driving on logging mains and highway driving. Best quality for the price and quiet on the road. Air down well too and excellent in the snow.
