I noticed something slightly different in my idling. A few weeks ago I replaced the alternator regulator plug.
Now the engine will idle high for 30-60 seconds, and then it tones down a bit.
I don't think there is any engine problem at all. Everything seems normal.
I think the idle toning...
I am also wanting to add a hitch to my M1009.
Has anyone done a UHaul hitch install for a Ciivy Blazer? Does a Uhaul Ciivy blazer hitch work on our Blazers without major mods?
I read where someone had issues, but someone else was able to make it work. What's the verdict on Uhaul hitches or...
Finally the tailgate window assembly overhaul is done. The cranking of the window is so much smoother now.
Getting the key lock assembly in was a pain. I messed around with it, and never got it in. I had friend look at, and he finally got it in place.
Thanks Howey and MikeV

Hey I thought I would resurrect this old post. I have started the project to overhaul rear window assembly. Not as bad I thought it would be.
The things that's holding me up is the tail gate crank assembly. From what I could tell from Howey pictures. Hold the spring and pawl in and then...
This evening While I was planning to mount a ammo can as a tool box in the back.
I was thinking at sometime I will need to overhaul the tailgate window crank.
Well today, as I was rolling up the window the crank broke off in my hand. So I guess the overhaul got moved up. HAHA!
I got a new...
Thanks everyone. I picked up some today. Mine are in bad shape. Still working, but replacement wouldn't hurt.
I got home and found they won't fit. The new plugs are slightly to wide, and I am unable to make secure firm connection. $2.99 at ORielly. They said they fit 90-73. China Made...
Forgot to add I am looking at a replacement here.

Hey,
I have taken a look at my Alternator wiring plug. I am no expert, but I think it's the regulator wiring plug?
Anyway mine are in bad shape. It's time to replace as a precaution.
What's does this wiring plug do, and how important is it?
Thank You,

Ok I am a bit confused here. Please bear with me if I ask something stupid. Again, I am no mechanic. I am learning as I go.
Several folks believe my problem is actually the ignition. I don't understand why?
My thought is that with the switch off the IP wire (pink wire) has no power. What...
Thank You. So my thinking on this isn't wrong.
During my looking around I saw some 6.5L HUMMWV solenoids for sale. I didn't think they would work.
Can anyone give more information on using a 6.5L HUMMWV IP solenoid?
stationjj
I think the solenoid on my IP is going bad?
I have a problem where the engine won't shut down after you turn the engine off.
From I can determine the gp system is in good shape, and is operating as normal. The -20 TM talks about the ground wire to the ignition, but I don't think that's it...
My CUCV had 67007 miles at purchase. The speedo died on me shortly after purchase, and was replaced. I currently have 425 miles on new speedo.
Another thing I noticed was that I get a vibration when I speedup between 65 -70 MPH. Then it will settle down. Not sure what this may be?
As for...
Today I took my CUCV M1009 on it's first road trip since I purchased the CUCV in May.
We did over 200 miles today. I went to Sewanee, TN from Nashville. This doesn't sound like much, but for me it's a step. I want to take these road trip so I can get used to the vehicle in the way that it...
wreckerman893,
Thanks for your input. Looks I may be wrong on CUCV. My M1009 came from the 106th Brigade Support Battalion.
Thanks for the correction.

I am still a newbie myself. I am still learning everyday. I bought a M1009 from a private individual in April.
From the research I did before I bought. With GL you get what you get. It or may not be in the condition that they state. Also the drive shaft may be gone? Depends if the Gov...
UPS showed up early today around 11am for ground delivery.
I installed the windows channel seals on both sides. LMC kit.
Re-install passenger door panel after re staining with SEM. Took off driver side door panel for restoration.
Looking at doing a new steering stabilizer. Are they easy...
67_C-30,
The seats from a early 80's Camaro are identical. If the mounts don't line up? Maybe you could replace with CUCV mounts?
Great information! Thanks for posting this! Maybe it will help other people wanting to replace seats? I remember when I started this seat project. I had a...
The seat restoration project is done! This was something I wasn't sure exactly what heck I was doing. I the end I am quite pleased how everything turned out.
As Hannibal (A-Team) said "I Love it when a plan comes together!"
Getting the Driver side seat mounted was stubborn. It was a...
