    metal in oil pan

Cleaned the old oil so I could use it as fuel. I didn't find anything thing in it all. At least the engine is not disintegrating.

    metal in oil pan

I better check the old oil for aluminum. The steel springs stuck to the magnet that I dipped in there but there could be chunks of piston in the bottom of the bucket.

    metal in oil pan

Well, the bed is currently full of tractor steering wheels that need to be delivered to my father's business a crossed town. I did fill it with oil and ran it. It sounds better now than it did last time I shut it down. Better flow from the spin on filters? or because the oil is new? It never...

    metal in oil pan

I don't think the engine would run if the timing of the fuel delivery was off do to missing springs. Or at least it would not run as smooth as it does now. A while back, I remember noticing that when the engine spins 1900-2200 rpm I heard what sounded like piston slap. A chattery noise, not a...

    metal in oil pan

I found an image of the piston ring set. TNJ Murray has one for sale. It looks like one of the rings is a spring. The coils on the spring are about the right size. And the quantity I have found is about the circumference of the piston. But how did it escape the groove it sits in? maybe a dry...

I checked the old oil filters. There is nothing on or in them.

    metal in oil pan

The engine never sees more than 2400 rpm. If it is the governor I would not have noticed.

    metal in oil pan

I added spin on oil filters today. This is the second time I have changed the oil. When I drained the oil I found metal springs in the oil. AHHHH NOOOOO!!!! They are 1/4 inch diameter coils of smooth round spring steel. The pieces total about 2 inches in length. They are cut into pieces and some...

    46" Tires Performance

Installed my 395/85R20s on stock rims. Was a breeze just took time and back strenght. Larger wheels means larger final drive. So as expected it accelerates and decelerates slower. Ride is better. The tires suck up all the little bumps. Also the old NDTs were not balanced so the truck shook over...

    wheel bolt hole counter sink?

lol. I posted from work and could not check the rims. I found these while looking for a new stud and nut http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/lugnutlefrfo.html http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/lugnutoriref.html I though maybe there were different nuts used for the duals or something. Whats...

    wheel bolt hole counter sink?

395/85R20's. I want to run the rear wheels dish out. Is it necessary to counter sink the bolt holes of the rim? or can I flip the nut around and have its flat side against the rim? What prevents the rim from rotating 1/4inch back and forth when the rears are duals, just friction? I would...

    395/85R20 correct innner tube link.

I would say so. If a 1200/20 means: 12 inches wide by 12 inches tall and fits a 20 inch rim. The tube would have to strech 3.5 inches to meet the side walls and strech about 1.5 inches to meet the tread.

    395/85R20 correct innner tube link.

ahh thanks. Would need something like 15.85R20? 15 inches wide, 85% the width tall and, 20 inch rim.

I don't understand the inner tube sizing system. 10.00R20 what does that mean? What in the correct size for 395/85R20?
