Very nice job and great looking too.
Every one has an opinion, good or bad. But i wonder just how many that do have an opinion could build one?
I am sure for its intended purpose it will work great. If it should bend, you will know how to improve it.
99% of hitch failures are from...
You need to adjust the modulator with a small screw driver. Pull the hose off and slide the screw driver in the hole and there is a sloted adjusting screw in side. turn it in to make it shift later and out to shift sooner. It dont take much so a little at a time and sevral trys will get it.
So did any one look at the list that was posted in post 14? all the steel bolts he tested were 5/16 dia. Of couse its going to have double the shear load of the stock GI issued shear pins.
The steel bolts he turned down to the correct size would be good for the winch and not let it over load...
I have a sprag case in mine and after I set it up to the specs in the TM it works great. After getting the truck I had no front drive in reverse. I feared ther worst and started looking for a air shift case but after checking the adjustment and finding it was way off. **** I did it laying in the...
Ok I added every ones suggestions to the list.
One does not have to do it all in one service. Make a list and work on the important stuff first like Brakes and lights? Then move on down the list.
If you are going to PM like no other. You should,
Dump all the fluids. This includes, brake fluid engine coolant all axles and trans and t case, engine oil. Drain fuel tank completly and flush out with 5 gallons of new fuel. Change all filters.
Service all the hubs and bearings.
Proper brake...
Brian just an fyi,
This was the first question,He new there were gas engines. But aside from that it says were the majority multys, So the answer is," yes ", until the A3 came about then they were diesels....randy
So would'nt the simple answer would be, A2 yes A3 no. I dont understand...
Did any one read the first post?????
Now that was some funny reading. Who cares if it will run on oil or diesel or gas?
The guy in the FIRST post wanted to know if there were trucks built with GAS engines. You guys cant stay on topic for nothing.
I did however enjoy this read!
Found one in the classifieds for 9 grand. It was lacking in the form department, Paint is not attractive. So the price is in the eye of the owner. I dont think you would have any problem selling that truck for a fair to "you" price.
The guy in Tooele is Jack Tomlim. I think thats how you spell it.
As for the truck you want. I dont know about you, but with a gas engine the price should come down another grand. I found a 58 gasser 5 ton I have been trying to get. I will sell my deuce "the one in my avatar" just cab and...
Red, Good luck getting anything out of there for a reasonable price. The reason they still have it, is cause all the prices are a joke. I went up and wandered the yard and they hit me hard for a couple of stupid things that didnt amount to more than a few bucks any where else. I talked to a...
the 3116's I worked on were ten years ago. I know they were replaced by the C- series engine.
Sorry to take the thread OT.
Mud guppy, I am sorry I said you didnt know.
Here in Utah, it is a farming state. You can haul people in the bed of a truck! With no seats or belts. No one riding can sit on the rail of the bed.
I have seen land scape companys hauling "imigrant workers" in the back of trucks on the free way of all places. I asked a buddy of mine that is a...

The 3116s I worked on were electronic.
The Caterpillar HEUI system in the 3116 features an electronic control module that handles the injection of fuel...
Remember the 3116 is an electronic engine. If you dont have the harness and the ECU it will cost alot more than the trouble of putting one in. If you wanted to repower I would use a 12 valve cummins with a mechanical pump. You can work them ove rto run 300 horse and be very reliable. There are...
