It has almost a full arctic winterization kit on it. I did some searches and a lot of people seem to want information on it so I'll take some pics and start a new thread when I get back from vacation. But here's a short run down:
Auxillary Battery/Interior Heater- fired direct from the fuel...
Basic Mechanism:
To turn on press the button in.
To turn off pull the cover out then give it a pull.
The little switch cover is pretty loose and moves in and out with doing anything (not sure why it's even there beside to prevent someone from bumping it accidently). My actual switch is...
I was just printing out a TM this mornign and noticed the changes to the manual were signed off by a USMC officer, so they probably used the M1008's could be authentic
Hey Blue Toes,
Didn't realize you were in Homer, thought it might have been in one of those first pics, but didn't recognize the ship. I've driven by that boat a ton of times. Glad you finally unloaded it. Didn't realize that law existed up here. I'll send you a PM.
The engine looks awesome and runs great. The lady I got it from picked up from a GSA auction just last March with the intent of selling it, they only put 200 miles on it this year. So I think this is how it came from the Army, which seems amazing.
Before I got my M1008 I thought about this 126' 1927 USCG Ship for my MV.
BOAT= Break out another thousand, but I think a boat this big is a BOATT, Break Out Another Ten Thousand
I think you could moor a boat that big outside the harbor and not pay the moorage fees, $90k is nuts, they're...
Definitely a necessity up here.
I think so Art, I was figuring that heater out tonight. You can see it on the passenger side of the engine compartment, with ducts that heat the battery compartments. That diesel fired heater really heats stuff up quick, but I haven't got the engine part of...
Forgot to ask, I noticed my leaf springs have little teflon inserts between all the leafs to keep them from rubbing on each other, have you guys noticed this on other trucks? I've never seen that before but this is my first MV.
Thanks for all the tips and comments.
Here some pics of the engine compartment and a few other shots around the truck, including the only bad spot of rust at the passenger cab corner. I need to look through the manual and see what all the wiring in the bed might have been. I think the hole was...
Thanks for the info, here's a pic of the tag, wired to the manifold. Looks like some work was done to the engine, including a whole new oil pan and new valve covers.
In order to help prevent those midnight requisitions mine has a chain bolted under the seat that can be padlocked around the...
Part of the arctic kit, the squareish vent is where the plug in for the block heater comes out and the circle port is where the Swingfire heater is, it's a fuel fired heater which heats everything engine oil, pan, tranny. No problems cold starting out in the middle of nowhere.
I need find out a...
The seats look redder in the photo, they are brown in person. I've been running straight blades so the controls will take a little getting used to, but I can already see that it's going to push more, stack higher and scrape better than the straight meyers plow I had on the blazer.
