    Glow-Plugs

I tested each wire, they came back .5 to .7, which I'm told is good. Now I'm really lost....

    Glow-Plugs

Doghead, I'm heading home now to continue diagnosing this. If my wires test bad, are there detailed instructions anywhere for making a new set? I called NAPA and they said that wire was discontinued. O-Reilly's doesn't have them either. They both say I'll have to make it from scratch.

    Glow-Plugs

On a couple. And got around 1.3, but it's hard to get a good reading so I took them out and connected them to battery via wire and they were orange in less than 3 seconds, which I'm told is a solid test.

    Glow-Plugs

I'll start this off by saying that this is my last resort because I know I'll probably get hammered for asking a common question or missing something stupid. However, I would really like it if i could get my M1009 to start. The second thing is, I have followed to TM/threads as best as I can with...

    Fresh Paintjob!

Always a snob in every group...never said it was a professional-grade paint job!

    Fresh Paintjob!

Actually a light winter here in Alaska. It was 30-35 last week when everyone down South was suffering! Not good for snow-mobiling though...

    Fresh Paintjob!

Nice pic! I just left the Springs. Was there about 10 years.

My Bad! Here's the pics!! I have no idea why those other ones are posting upside-down.

    Fresh Paintjob!

Decided to rattle-can my M1009. I've done quite a bit of this with my combat gear, but nothing so big as this! I like the results. Best part is, in six months, when I come up with a new idea, I can do it all over again! Probably cost me 100 bucks total, including the gear to sand it down with...

    Gen2/Voltmeter Question

I'm not going to lie muddobber, you're talking way over my head right now!

    Gen2/Voltmeter Question

Gotcha. I've taken off the resistor. I will put everything back on tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the help!

    Gen2/Voltmeter Question

The passenger side alternator was taken out. As for how it was performed, I do not know.

    Gen2/Voltmeter Question

My M1009 was converted to 12V before I purchased it. The Gen2 light has never worked, and the needle on the Voltmeter wavers slightly when I turn on the batteries but that's it. I've found some literature on this site about changing bulbs and relays etc, but my question is this: Would the...

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

Update: I completely broke down my wiring and GP system and inspected/cleaned/tested all my connections. Everything came out good. Also did some routine maintenance on the starter/solenoid. Then did the same thing with my Block Heater. Though it was working, there was a ton of crud all around...

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

Also the purple connector tested good with voltmeter.

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

Still working through this issue. Pulled out starter relay via dog head relay instructions and found something different than what was pictured. The left connector looks the same but I'm not sure what the other two are. This vehicle was converted to 12v by previous owner.

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

I'm no expert, but they seem to be in pretty decent shape. I actually just replaced the connectors on the front battery yesterday. I cut the first inch off the wire since it looked a little cruddy.

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

Yes, I do put in a deisel additive, usually Deisel 911 or a related product. I will test glow plugs again, as well as the batteries. I left the truck out today, with the batteries in (it was 20-25) and when I just tried to start the engine it would barely turn over. Could there be a short or bad...

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

Yes, I have both. I live in Alaska so such things are mandatory!

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

I know there's plenty of posts about hard starting in the cold, but none that exactly matched up to my issue. Starting off. GP, GP relay and batteries are all in working order. I ONLY have issues when it dips below 20 degrees (usually down to -10). If it's warmer than that, or I park in the...
