What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I always loved the idea of diesel electric trucks....like most modern trains.. The engine is only there to provide electricity....

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

You can just take the transfer case out. No one needs that.

I finally started working on my M934 interior..

So, I have something I need input with. The side doesn't match up with the roofline. The sides are slightly below and away from the roof. as illustrated. Is there another feasible way to seal the gap other than putting an L shaped sheet across the gap? How best to secure? Sealant underneath...

    Mount muffler under cab?

I was thinking about mounting muffler under the cab and dumping the exhaust just behind the cab to the right.

    Mount muffler under cab?

M934, and assuming it would never go in water above the tires. I'm concerned about heat near the air tanks and heat under the cab. I assume a muffler gets hotter than exhaust pipe.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Looks good. I wish I didn't live in the meth capitol....That thing would be gone in a couple hours, even if it was bolted down. Gotten so bad that they're stealing people's tailgates, lightbars, even carrying around grinders to cut heavy duty locks..

    Mount muffler under cab?

M939 series with NHC250... The exhaust line runs right above the air tanks, is there a reason not to shorten the exhaust and put the muffler right under the cab?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I started a rebuild thread. I'm really bad at taking pictures as I work though. I got most of the wiring out, most of the ceiling out, most of the wood out that was riding on the side panel but I'm going to remove all of it anyway and put different insulation in there. One thing I've seen a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Pulled more of the rotten wood panels out of my M934, gaining acess to the exterior metal from the inside. Definitely tiresome but cool knowing how everything fits together.. Or.. In the case of the walls, doesn't fit together. Heh. There's a good 2 inch gap between the the top of the wall panel...

I finally started working on my M934 interior..

Well, to be honest, I've never used a cutting torch before. So, the guy that was helping me was doing all the torch work. I was keeping an eye on things I had a couple buckets of water in case something decided that it didn't want to go out, but we are walking back and forth removing the screw...

I finally started working on my M934 interior..

ProTip #1.... If the panel locks won't budge, make sure they're not already UNLOCKED before you shear a 1/2" steel insert.... ProTip #2 Don't bother trying to unscrew all the screws holding in the roof and floor panels, just use a torch. ProTip #3 Don't leave a box of fireworks inside your...

I finally started working on my M934 interior..

Gut the interior, replace fiberglass insulation with closed cell foam sheets and spray closed cell foam to fill in gaps. replace the interior walls with a thin steel or aluminum. Seal the roof with an elastomeric coating, and seal in the slideouts, removing the roof/ceiling/side panels...

I finally started working on my M934 interior..

.... and I wanna cry. Basically needs an entirely new interior and new seals. I was gonna get a connex and mount it but chose against that due to insulation costs... Now it's looking like a cheaper option. The wall is bowed in some places (water swelling wood) and rotten in others. That...
