Are the all steel head gaskets, better than the thicker/newer composite gaskets?

Thanks for the replies, very interesting. I think both where possible, but the 2hole newer ones will be better, better burn/atomize, cleaner.The depot rebuilders had the advice to use the two hole ones for assembling the engine (at the 80`s)

Possible to use LDS-465 (5ton) engine injectors (1 big one) on LDT-465-1C (2.5ton) engine (original injectors with 2 small holes) ??? Both are American Bosch, same looking, but the difference will be the other end nozzle diameter and burst pressure/spray pattern.Does anybody have practical know...

Thank you very much! I understand that the piston/sleeve sizes are the same, except one more compression ring for the LDS..... The question will be what happens if I use two new LDS pistions with 5 rings in my LDT engine ?(4others are the used originals with 3 rings). They are better and saver...

I`ve got an old ldt-465-1C piston/sleeve here so I could also measure them. It have 3 rings on them.....

Thanks for informations, but I have not yet a really good answer for sure..... @gimpyrobb please could you measure the sleeve from the LDS, inside/outside & lenght.May be you could measure piston high/lenght w/o push it out. Compression volume (bowl cc) and stroke will be the same on both...

Does have the LDS-465 multifuel, mostly used in 5ton series trucks having the same piston sleeve size as the LDT-465 (inner diam.4.56" outer diam. 4.75")? Thanks, Matt

Thanks for information. The hood number says "4K 3137" what about this number, including also the build date? I saw that the same number was painted many times, at the original olive drab from the factory and at least at carc paint.

I bought the truck only with the blank frame, now mounting a cargo bed.Could be a shop van, because I saw a shop van hull which was standing there alone near the truck.Are you sure it was built 1967?

Hello.Here are pics from the truck, maybe they help. The front engine mount, goes straigth from the right to the left mount (crossover) so you must unscrew it from the frame to take it out to take out the engine, never ones don`t have this style

The piston damage will be as follows, piston no 3 was totally meltet at the top, as you see at the pic i saw also that the heat was only at the top, because the rest of the piston under the rings looks good, so the mistake was inside the combustion chamber above the rings so the engine oil tube...
