What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Less space, more functionality. You can get a decent ss2000sm for about 300 nowadays. If you sold your existing stuff, you'd be at least halfway there.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Yes. All siren tones disabled, airhorn with horn ring, lighting controls, and signalmaster control. I'd need 3 boxes to do what this one box does. Completely programmable, and controllable by a computer.

D700, 2m/440 built in TNC/APRS. Single output to diplexer, with 1/2 wave on VHF and separate 1/2 wave on UHF. While most people like the 1/4 or 5/8ths, I'm a big fan of the 1/2 wave for its radiation pattern and the fact that it doesn't need a large groundplane. I installed the radio/SS2000...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Sounds like you had a starter solenoid, they're rated for intermittent use. Hence being toasted. Also realize that relays are rated for both inrush (current peak), and continuous. Most chinese ones will advertise peak, NOT constant current carrying handling. A 200A 'peak' relay will only handle...

    new headlights

after reading many reviews, the unanimous opinion was that the fake projectors are horrible... the autopal e code were unanimously praised, and I got those. not my pic, but shows the beam difference and cutoff. a bit of warning; while e code is superior to DOT standards in every way...

    new headlights

I just went with the Autopal E code headlights for right hand traffic. They're European spec, with a sharp cutoff, glass lens instead of usual plastic in cheap 6054 housings. I put in a bixenon HID kit, and there is ZERO glare, as the H4 has a glare shield, and the housings have a pretty good...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I was looking for an easy way to connect a quick deploy solar station to the vehicle, and this is exactly what I was looking for. I was gonna use Anderson power poles, but the simplicity of your setup is something I like. Charge battery, jump vehicles, connect inverter for using electric tools...

    CB runs batteries down

Need to log in, probably won't get best pricing if you don't order a lot. These were around $50, more basic ones were around $30 link I don't have the distributor list that I used, readily available. I do remember Tessco and Lund Industries though.
