    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

Always fun trying to unfudge what the last wrench turner did. Then begins the "what were they thinking??????..." Deal with this on a pretty regular basis in the shop!

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

    Did you figure this out?

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

Adjustment is made on nut #13 in the picture. That bracket floats free, not attached to vehicle. Frame bracket that one cable clips to, one cable passes through is further back. Which are you looking for?

    Tires for M1028

    I. and several others on here have used the Wrangler Duratracs. Lots of protection on tire sides and are really incredible off road. Pretty good manners on road too for a on/off road. Move up to a 265 75 16, almost 400 lbs higher weight rating than the 235 85's. Same height, but a little wider...

    1028 rear shocks

That style shock is junk and are generally used to supplement springs that are sagging or weak. As stated, the shock mounts aren't meant to support any large amount of weight. First thing i normally tell a customer if i see those shocks is they need springs... Just put KYB mono max on my 1008...

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

About 2" back from center frame support/ down bracket on lower frame rail there should be two frame rivets that went through the bracket. There's an empty third hole directly back from the two (not used). Can take a pic tomorrow afternoon if needed as bed nowhere close to going back on frame...

    hard brake line question

I would recommend Nicopp! Lasts longer and much easier to bend and flare. Double the price, but you don't have to do it again!

    Rear brake valve

Mine was bypassed over ten years ago, never saw ant noticeable difference.

    M1008 Timbren SES

Probably shouldn't have replied in the first place as i don't have first hand experience with these, but do have a clue when it comes to suspension! Have looked into these for customers at the shop in the past, but always went another route. Did some internet searching on these. Seems to be a...

    M1008 Timbren SES

Don't know that i would consider 2" sagging way too much..... Can you use a different drop on the draw bar for when the truck is loaded to level the trailer or are you using the pintle hitch? If pintle hitch, obviously no adjustment. Guess timbrens would work, but then you're not really...

    M1008 Timbren SES

Springs are most likely weak. A ton in the back of my 1008 doesn't really phase it, just makes it ride nice... IMHO the timbrens are not a fix for the problem, just a bandaid!! Best bet if would be to replace springs. Second option would be to add the factory overload springs and frame perches...

    Laundry list for the m1009

I've done the 6.2 to SBC twice. Once on a 82 C30 and the M1008 Accessories won't swap over but not difficult to source brackets. I did have a 454 at one point when i first got the 1008, but decided to go SB. Big block will fit, but not as much room to work, and parts much more expensive...

    About my new 1028

Washing/degreasing motors with a lot of water is BAD... Ask owners of mid 2000's gm V8's with the knock sensor under the intake how this works out for them.

New Member - Potential new owner of M1008 Things to check over

Also, take a good look at the wiring under hood and under dash. fire departments tended to add stuff and create issues.... (butchery!)

New Member - Potential new owner of M1008 Things to check over

From pics that's most likely a reasonable price. With that said, get underneath and check for rust! Floor pans and cab supports are kind of a biggy! Rockers and cab corners are replaceable, but if no floor to attach to it becomes a large project.... Kind of shocking what square bodies are...

Blackout light switch bypass with pictures

I still use my B/O switch. Works out nicely for the plow lights! Not so hot when it gets knocked to the middle and you drive around with no brake lights!

    Mystery Transmission Fluid Leak?

J Just an FYI for those going to replace filter and gasket. I've switched over to the duraprene pan gaskets for any transmission work at the shop(when they're available). The readily available cork or rubber gaskets are a pita, always seem to seep, leak, whatever. The duraprene is more...

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

String trick won't really work too well on these, front track width is wider. A sixty degree wheel change is substantial, don't think it's something worn.... Something shifted quite a bit somewhere!

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Check toe setting with tape measure (front and back of tire). If toe-in seems appropriate that would narrow things down to steering arm, draglink and backwards to column... don't believe the bent spring wold cause that much offset in the steering wheel
