    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Paul, my orange wrecker is fairly complete and has a pretty good cab, but needs an engine and a rear end, and the rest of the drivetrain is questionable. This one has no wrecker equipment and the cab is in poor condition, but runs, drives and stops. It also has lots of other parts I need. It...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

What a co-incidence that I posted exactly a year ago today that the Federal without the boom was for sale. I just bought it. It will be a while before I get it home.

1947 Ward Le France M1 Heavy Wrecker

This would make a great project for someone. It's a Ward LaFrance 1000 M1 wrecker. The curved boom and military gauges in the dash make it a Series 4, which were only built in 1943. A friend has talked to the owner and the price is 20K. I wonder if he is including a free restoration ??

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I can't fix this one. What kind of shape is yours in ?

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

It's funny, I think there are more of these restored in Europe than here in the U.S. I can think of maybe 4 to 6 restored C2's overseas, perhaps 1 or 2 here. But it seems like there are more unrestored C2's here in the U.S.

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Howard, I may have to have you and Chris come over for an un-sticking party ! You won't have to lie in the dirt though so it won't be as much fun as Chris's Sterling LOL.

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Ex NASA, that's pretty cool. I work at the Kennedy Space Center. Did they come from Houston ? No funds right now but I may be interested later. You can probably tell from my garage that I used to work Space Shuttle.

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

I'll have to get a 5th wheel first LOL ! Do you have the 25 or 40 footers ?

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

This past July I bought the Federal C2 wrecker at the Jeff Chester auction in Ohio. and it was delivered a few weeks ago. The truck is a great old survivor. It was bought by a house moving company in New Jersey after the war, and was kept inside while they had it. It was saved from a scrap yard...

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

You have really done a wonderful job with your jeep. It looks great. I think you will really enjoy the V6 and overdrive, especially when driving to long distance shows. With your faster speed and acceleration I would upgrade the brakes if it were mine. Gladiator and Wagoneer 11" drum brakes from...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

The Federal without the boom that started this thread was on Craigslist about a month ago. The ad is gone and I don't know the status. I hope it found a good home.

    Cab ID

It looks like a 1940's Oshkosh from here. The windshield is unusual on both these cabs.

    1943 GPW distance measurement needed

Torisco, I think the "S" on your steering box is for Studebaker. I think I've heard that Studebaker steering boxes were often swapped into Jeeps in the '50's and '60's, before the Saginaw conversions became popular.

    Studebaker K15F and K25S

I bought a couple of DVD's on ebay several years ago that were just WW2 military ads. I think you would like them, no wading required ! Here is a link to the website, but it looks old so you may want to verify it is still active...

    Towing

It's been over 35 years since I flat towed a Jeep but I was always told to NEVER flat tow a model 18 transfer case without removing the rear driveshaft, and the front driveshaft as well if there were no front lockout hubs. It was said that the bearings would not be oiled properly when towing...

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

You definitely have a GPW frame, and what would appear to be a GPW body. I think you are ok. Willys MB's and the subsequent CJ2 through CJ5 models had a tubular front cross member while the Ford GPW had a channel front cross member like yours.

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

Torisco, you have a pretty interesting jeep there. You have not gotten any responses here and I think that is because this site is for enthusiasts who restore their military jeeps back to original. Depending on what kind of frame modifications were made to yours to install the Buick engine...

My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

Neat project. That cab is from a 1935-36 Ford truck.

    42 Sterling?

John, the engine is a Waukesha 6SRKR. I think that is what they mean by a stump puller LOL !

    42 Sterling?

NHS275, congratulations on your Sterling. I remember seeing that truck for sale a while back, I'm glad it went to a good home. It is very cool that it still has some of the Navy markings on it. Your DD115 is somewhat unique as far as Sterling military all wheel drives go, as it was also built as...
