Just tow it. I have an old harbor fright tow bar and an old bumper with the mounts on it I use. The only thing I do is bungy cord the stearing wheel. If you have a military tow bar use it.
Just move the track ajuster and reaar idealer wheel. You would only have to drill some holes. Lots less work than cutting the body.
Or you coild just buy a couple of crates of pads and go with the orginal sysyem. ;)
I would look for Army Reserve or National Guard units in Jackson MS. One thing to remember these units might not be around anymore. So you will need to look at older unit histories. Your truck might have been part of a smaller detachment with the main unit located elsewhere.
